How do I find out my percentage of body fat? I am at a good weight and want to start working on toning. What is a healthy percentage of body fat for a 5', 34 year old woman who weighs 116lbs?

There are several on-line body fat calculators, I have used http://www.bmi-calculator.net/body-fat-calculator/ , which is based on a US Navy formula.

For women, "Fitness" is inferred at 21-24% body fat (14-17% for men).

I feel the problem with online calculators is that they don`t really take into account your bone structure/muscle mass etc. I think the best way is by using fat calipers. Although others would say the water tank method and various others methods.

thanks! I just was wondering also how accurate those online ones are, that's why I was wondering how to find out. Where do I find a fat caliper, is that something my doctor would have?

You can buy them on ebay or amazon for around £9.99...

Calipers are great, in the hands of someone who knows how to use them. Water displacement is best, but kinda pricey. My trainer tried this one and found it accurate enough for home use.
