I found an article on Tumblr that I found very interesting with 20 nutritional tips for a leaner you. Now we all know the basics like cutting calories, eating more protein, starvation modes and so forth but I thought I would share with you some things I didn't know that might help you as well. Again, I found this article and claim no rights to what I'm about to write but only to inform you and pass the information from the original author for your information.

A very low carb day once every 10 to 12 days, during which you limit your carbs to between 50 to 80 g can trick the body into greater fat loss.

When you hit a roadblock get off your diet. Eat anything you want for a couple of days within reason. The author suggests to load up on "good" carbs and fat before returning to the diet and that your body will resume burning bodyfat when you start back up.

Another interesting fact from the article said that eating fish was a dieters best friend (which we all know) but what I didn't know what even the Higher fat fish such as salmon, bluefish, mackerel and tuna steaks are leaner than protein foods that have comparable amounts of fat and that a four-month study of 63 overweight subjects who ate higher-fat fish daily lost more weight than those eating fish only once a week.

A two group study of women following a 1600 calorie daily diet with 50 g of fat. On group ate higher-protein and fewer-carbs while the other ate higher-carbs and lower-protein. After 10-weeks both groups lost about the same amount of weight but the group that ate higher-protein lost 18% more fat and retained 27% more muscle. So more protein and fewer carbs. (okay, so I kind of knew this part but had never seen a study on it and found it interesting).

And last but not least it says to take a break. The body does not respond well to continually pushing past the boundaries of lower-calorie intake, when implementing all kinds of diet and training strategies. The ideal remedy is to take two or three days off from training while consuming a reasonable menu before beginning again.

Again these are just a few of the things listed that I found interesting. You can catch the full article at Source: http://www.simplyshredded.com/principles-of-getting-shredded-20-nutritional-tips-for-a-leaner-you.html
