Is 1000 calories OK?

I have been doing this MFP for a month now and am wondering if we have to stick to the advised calories?
Mine is set at 1200 and I have had lots of days when I am under 1000. I realize I am very motivated right now,
and happy not to be eating as much. Still eating about 5 times a day, but low cal stuff. Also, I really hate "eating
back" the calories I earned exercising....The big red warning flag says "Starvation Mode" but I can see that my slender
friends are only eating 1000 calories a day, so why can't i ? Especially during this initial period when I want to see results faster.
Any advise?? Many thanks.
