The dreaded love handles..

How the hell do you get rid of these??! I know that you can't "spot" treat them but even when I weighed 127 pounds, I still had love handles, and that is slim for my height. Is it because I cheat sometimes because I don't always eat healthy foods or is there certain amount of cardio I should be doing daily? Its not only that they don't look good, but they make my pants not fit me and almost push my jeans off of me because my jeans have to sit below my love handles. I am so sick and tired of bending over and having to pull my pants up, or getting out of the car and having to pull my pants up. And my frame is very small and I swear I would look a lot better in my midsection if I didn't have these. Any comments are welcome, this just has been bothering me ALOT lately.:noway:

I have the same problem. I've found that kickboxing really helps with that. I've also been really watching my sugar intake since I started MFP and that has helped me lose much of the "belly/ love handle" fat. Good luck!

A lot of it may have to do with genetics, but maybe you could firm up the muscles in that area and get a more toned appearance. I would suggest Pilates and Yoga (Perfect Mix by Jennifer Kries), also "The Method" by Lotter Berk or "Core Fusion" by Exale Spa (similar to Lotte Berk). I love the way these workouts have shaped my body especialy around my midsection.

I agree with slimkitty. Those workouts are amazing. I still have love handles and have to go 10lbs below recommended weight which I DO NOT RECOMMEND. I am honestly thinking of going and getting lipo. It's been on my mind every day this week. It's the only place I would want it. The rest of me I can deal with. I think that I would then be able to wear skirts and have my jeans fit. It sounds like we are a lot alike and I am very close to my ideal weight.... let us know how you progress....:flowerforyou:

HI, Sorry so long to respond.
I've been hoopin since the end of April. Pretty much the time I started with myfitnesspal. Not everyday but most weekday mornings for 20 minutes. I use a hoop I bought from CanyonHoops.com. The 1.5 lb hoop. I LOVE IT. I just crank up some favorite music from pandora.com (free) and just keep that hula hoop going! It is a lot of fun! Theres no way you can hoop without putting a smile on your face!
I figure I burn around 200 cals in that period of time. That's my workout for the day!

LOL! How fun! I can't hula hoop to save my life, so that's out for me. It sounds like a good workout, though!

Not to sound stupid.... but is that you in your profile picture? If so.... are you sure what you're talking about is "love handles" and not just "hips"? I think sometimes we forget that we, as women are supposed to have hips...

At any rate, just wanted to say I think that you look great!!!!

i agree with sonjavon--you're 20 and your figure is just BEAUTIFUL! you have an hourglass shape--which is why today's jeans leave you frustrated. they are designed more for the boyish/no hip figure.

love handles are akin to a spare tire--there is really an extra HUNK of fat just sitting above the hips/lower abdomen area. to be honest, i didn't start developing any of that till i was about 27. and now after my third kid, i have a bona fide spare tire. just lovely.

from what i can see from your many GORGEOUS, HAPPY pictures is that you have great curves and a flat belly. truly no love handles or spare tire.
you can work on overall increasing your strength, but there's really nothing to get rid of. celebrate the body you have and healthy eating and healthy moving. ENJOY!

I agree... it could be genetics???

I think the best thing to do is side crunches standing up. I noticed a difference after doing them with slim in six and with turbo jam...

    Good luck :glasses:
