has anybody ever seen or had mame gonomi? do you know the nutritional info?

or can you translate? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UOZnvGINRDw

they are a japanese snack that seems to be made of some type of flour (rice, maybe) surrounding a peanut. they are crunchy, light, crispy, and come in a few different flavors such as seaweed, sesame, fish (lobster?) and spicy. the ones i find at my local bodega are in bulk containers so the packaging does not have nutritional values listed and i can't find it anywhere online.

these are the most awesome snacks i've ever had, and i have no idea how to log them!

Maybe log them as honey roasted peanuts?

they're definitely not as sweet as honey roasted peanuts are...i found something in the database which might be close, called kaki no tane...but those are just peanuts with the spicy rice crackers. hmmm... i'm estimating at 225 for 43g based on that.

Looks like peanut in a rice cracker shell.

Hmm... I know exactly what you're talking about, and I think they're delicious, but I've always purchased them here (http://www.cybersnacks.net/mochi_balls.html) and they call them mochi balls. I know this can't be right, though, because traditionally mochi is a glutinous substance made from rice. pdworkman has it right - they're peanuts encased in a hard rice cracker. Try logging arare mix and peanuts separately.

halcyon, i'm SO glad someone else knows what they are and can appreciate the awesomeness of them. some japanese snacks kinda freak me out, especially the fishy ones, but these level the playing field.

    thanks everyone!!!
