In 2005 I was hit by a car and broke my left femur and cheek bone. The doctor put a titanium rod in the my femur and screwed that sucker in.
My question is... does anybody else have a rod in their leg and how has it affected you? I have days like today where is it hurts and I'm limping. Has anyone had it removed? I'm so tired of the pain, limping, and random giving out, you would't believe how often I fall, because this stupid leg just decideds to quit on me.
Thank you.

I had something similar screwed into my arm. My bone was a little too big and causing problems in my wrist. After they removed some of the bone they screwed a plate down my forearm. I had it removed about 2 years later because it was bothering me and after they took x-rays of it they discovered one of the screws was starting to unscrew. I haven't had any problems since it's been out.0

im right there with you .. back in 2000 I was in a car accident... interestingly enough MY left leg pretty much obliterated from the bottom of my calf to just above my ankle.. I have a plate and 7 screws in my left shoulder thanks to the seatbelt ( pretty good trade off for going through the windshield). They removed my rod and screws approx 24 months after the accident ( I got them back after the procedure and still have them... makes an interesting converstation starter sitting on the coffee table LOL)
Much like you my leg still bothers me (swelling , achy the whole shot) but the episodes are pretty much limited to strenuous activity now like when I play softball , snowboard , jog on the treadmill etc. At first I let it dictate what i could and couldnt do .. but after a while I got tired of just watching life pass me by... if you look at it knowing ahead of time that certain things agravate it you can take steps to minimize the pain.. For instance.. I stretch MUCH more than my team mates when playing softball and take a few ibuprophen BEFORE the game or hitting the slopes.. Make sure you keep it wrapped and WARM as the titanium will gather the cold if your outside during the winter months.. If all fails ill make a recommendation for my Chiropractor Dr Jack Daniels and / or Dr Jim Beam.. Both are excellent for joint pain :-D ... Hope that helps ... Feel free to add me if you want..0
