So I am a nut for documentaries, and I have Netflix to thank for that.
So I wanted to see if anybody knows of any good ones out there.
A few of my favorite health related ones are (since most of us are on here for health reasons):
Supersize Me
Food, Inc.
Killer at Large
Forks Over Knifes
Burzynski
The Gerson Miracle
I would list all my favorite non-health related documentaries, but that list would be very long.
So give me your favorites!

Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead
I finally just bought Food Inc last night (now I can share with people!)
Next on my list to watch is Forks Over Knives...how would you rate it?0 -
Check out Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution, I watched it on Hulu.com0
-
I agree with you, I loved Food, Inc.
I have a bunch more health related ones in my queue but haven't watched them yet.
i watched 2 non-health related ones this weekend: Facing the habit & Dear Zachary. Caution: Dear Zachary will make you bawl your eyes out. I was literally weeping.
Give us some of your non-health related ones!0 -
Watch "The Yes Men"....so good!!! So insightful!0

& yes! I so badly want to see the Elmo one! Actually, I'm going to watch it now I didn't realize it was on Netflix!0 -
Aileen: Life and Death of a Serial Killer was really interesting.0

I really enjoyed Forks Over Knives. It is very good on showing the correlation between meat and health issues, and i found it fascinating to watch the journey's of a few people who switched over to a whole plants diet and how all their health issues just disappeared. Out of 1-10 I'd say 8? I've never been good at rating things.0 -
I love documentaries, too. Here's some I would recommend:
Lost Boys of Sudan
Wetback: The Undocumented Documentary
After Innocence
A Life Apart: Hasidism in America
The Future of Food
Born Into Brothels
Crossing The Line
39 Pounds Of Love
Manda Bala
The Last Days
Fall From Grace
Restrepo
(copied these from my Netflix history)
They are all very well done and very interesting. I hope this helps!0 -

Non health related favorites would be:
The Cove
Earthlings (I guess it could kind of be health related)
Food Matters (forgot about that one)
This Film is not yet rated
Gashole
Fuel
Blue Gold
Pregnant in America
Sick Around America
Thirst
Tapped
Maxed Out
A Crude Awakening
Fagbug
Bowling for Columbine
Life Running out of Control
For the Bible Tells me So
The End of America
Loose Change 9/11
Inside Job
all on netflix except the last, which really should be!0 -
Love all the ones you listed... especially Forks over Knives, Burzynski & The Gerson Miracle. I'd like to see Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead. I'm a huge fan of juicing!
Other non-health:
Small Voices: The Stories of Cambodia's Children
This is Gonna Hurt: The Documentaries0 -
Netflix is the reason I started to eat vegetarian...nearly vegan. I blame Netflix! Forks Over Knives, Food Matters, and Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead.... those are the three that got me thinking more about where our food comes from and just how much it affects our health.0

Oh man, I love documentaries. I have so many favorites, I don't know where to start. I know I'd leave out some really good ones if I try to list them all. But yes, there are some great ones on Netflix. If it's a good enough documentary, I'll completely lose myself in it even if it's about a subject matter I had no prior interest or knowledge in.
One of my more recent favorites was Cave of Forgotten Dreams. Seeing it in 3D at the IMAX was a special treat. I'm not a huge fan of watching things in 3D, but watching this documentary that way, I felt like I was actually in the cave. It was just real neat. I noticed it on Netflix streaming, and I think it'd still be real fun and interesting to watch even on a normal tv set.
Some other good ones I noticed that were still on Netflix streaming:
My Brother's Keeper
Exit Through the Gift Shop
I Like Killing Flies
Vernon, Florida
Mr. Death
Dear Zachary: A Letter to a Son About His Father
Special When Lit
The Rock-afire Explosion
American: The Bill Hicks Story
Gonzo: The Life and Work of Dr. Hunter S. Thompson
Young@Heart
... yeah, I'll probably have to come back and add more to this list later. There are still a lot of good ones on there.0 -
The real dirt about Farmer John0

I just watched a great health related doco called "I want to look like that guy"
It's about this guy's quest to look like the guy he sees in fitness advertisements. Really a great look at what it actually takes a normal joe to transform his body. Shows all his struggles and how unhealthy and stressful it can really be.
Super low budget, but a good story.0 -
bump for later
Ive seen many of the ones listed and lots I havent seen.. I am a documentary fan!0 -

A-ha! I was hoping you'd say 8
As for other documentaries, I'm basically just glued to IFC all the time.
-Weird Sex and Snowshoes (Canadian Film/Music documentary)
-Thin (strange look into eating disorders at a clinic)
-Living Dolls (creepy "little miss" pageantry doc)
-Grass
Those are the main 4 I can think of that I must have watched a million times0 -
food matters is a good one. . . aside from that I LOVE all documentaries equally. My top favs right now are:
The Universe
Ancient Aliens
WWII in HD
Any Nat Geo0 -
There are lots that I like that I've already seen listed here. King Corn was good as well.0
-
I like the ones that showcase the human condition as the primary focus. An amazing one is Dear Zachary: A Letter to a Son About His Father. I highly recommend it.
Other notable ones that I thought were incredible were:
Young At Heart
The Bridge
Bangkok Girl
Invisible Children
The Day My God Died0
