Earned calories

First things first, I got on the scale for the first time today since I came back to MFP (about a week and a half), and lost 4 pounds! That was the first thing to really motivate me - besides beach season is right around the corner. Once I saw the weightloss - even with a few big cheats this week, I know, now it's on!! I lose weight pretty easily, but do get frustrated when I don't see results, so I almost never weigh myself and just go by how my clothes fit, and I can't wait to get into my skinny jeans again!!
Now the big question - I am eating mostly fruits and veggies, hard boiled eggs and tuna with lemon for protein. I tend to stay in the 12-1300 calorie range before my workout. I typically earn and extra 400-500 calories. I rarely eat them, unless I'm starving, and then usually I'll just have a small salad.
So is this good or bad? Should I be eating all of the extra calories?

One thing you absolutely CANNOT do is starve your body -- especially when you're trying to lose weight. but it seems that you are "in tune" with your body knowing whether or not you are hungry, and that is one of the hardest things to be able to do, but also the best.
use your discretion -- somedays you may need it, some you may not, and that may depend on your exertion level. sometimes i don't eat all of my "extra" calories and i'm fine just because of how disciplined i am to spread out my calories and what time of the day i workout.
keep doing what you're doing, and always, always, always listen to what your body is telling you and you will continue to see results!
good luck!!!0 -
Thank you! No problems there... if I'm hungry, I eat, I just try to make sure it's something healthy

that's great! one thing i didn't mention was that you also need to make sure you're fueled for your workout and eat something immediately (within 30 minutes at the latest) afterwards, so that your body doesn't turn into a muscle burning machine -- i think you're on the right track and seem to know what you're doing. enjoy the weekend!!!!0
