For the last two hours I've wanted cookies & ice cream, or better, both......& lots of it! I made a healthy supper, but before I could eat, my daughter called with a problem where she works at a convienience store so I left before I ate. Standing there with all those yummy chips, doughnuts, candy bars, ice cream sandwichs, & on & on made me feel like I felt when I quit smoking. Temptation was terrible!!! Well, I finally got out of there without anything & came home & ate my chicken & glass of milk. To close to bedtime to eat whet I had planned. So I'm going to go take a shower, have a little treat of some kind, & go to bed. Sure glad I don't have anything real bad for me in the house, just some pudding. After my shower I won't want to throw my jeans & shirt on again just to go for goodies, but a word of encouragement from anybody wouldn't hurt either. The reason this all started was I wrenched my back & neck at work, I hurt, & I am probably feeling sorry for myself. Since I quit drinking & smoking, there's not many vices left. Oh, & I live by myself so don't suggest cuddling up with somebody......cause that aint gonna happen.

Stay strong!! I do a couple of different things to fight off cravings First if its early in the evening I chew a piece of sugar free gum, if its closer to bed time I brush my teeth. When I brush my teeth with minty tooth paste it seems to kill the craving. I hope this helps.

Stay with your plan and if for some reason you do 'fall off the wagon' don't beat yourself up and try to contain it. Then tomorrow is a new day and you will get back up and start again. It is the only way we can do it...

    Take care.

trying to avoid temptations can be so difficult. KUDOS to you for walking away. Removing yourself from where you think you could have indulged in those tasty snacks was a really good thing to do. FOCUS on yourself, your goals and more so, focus on the positive and all you have achieved. I think our minds and eyes tempt us but if we give in - we let ourselves down because we are not controlling our 'cravings'. I read a story where a doctor of a morbidly obese person used this tactic. the doctor sat the person in a room for five minutes purposely asking him to reflect on his weight loss progress and goals and reasons for losing weight. then after five minutes, the doctor put a plate with a delicious brownie on the table right next to the patient. The doctor left the room for another five minutes. WELL - this seems like torture....but the lesson from this was that the patient talked to the brownie - saying "you dont control me" and determined that as much as that brownie looked delicious and was so so tempting - - he figured out that it wasn't controlling him and HE determined his progress as he reflected earlier was more valuable than a minute of brief tasty satisfaction. I like this story because I often reflect on it and when I'm feeling weak - i think about the successes I've had with my weight loss. A compliment from a friend, my pants fitting a little looser, or even more so - the lbs i've lost!!!

Stay strong and keep up the great work!!!! Congrats to you.....this is one of those successes you can build on and during your journey you will have more of these moments - - so good to go!!!!
    Cheers!!!!
    :)
