Nutritional percentages question

I have a question. A lot of the research I'm reading states that your protein intake should be greater than this website and others recommend. Does anyone know if consuming more protein than recommended by this site will have negative health effects or interfere with my weight loss/body reshaping?

For example this site recommends I consumer 86g of protein per day. I'm already at 119g and I'm about 400 calories under my target for the day. Can there be to much of a good thing? Is more protein better?

Currently I am on the treadmill each day for 45 minutes at 7% incline and 3.6 MPH. Plus I strength train with dumbbells at home.

Any thoughts/advice would be appreciated.

A general idea is to get 1 gram of protein per lb of of body weight.

Here's a great place to start. It opened my eyes to a lot of variables to consider and I'm on a much better path for me. It's not a short answer, but it's worth the time to read.

Steve has helped quite a few people on this board and has some great threads going. If you do a search under "find members" for stroutman81 you can find the threads.
