Planet Fitness...opinions??

They boast something called the "Judgement Free Zone". Being obese, I am interested in a gym where I don't have to feel super self conscious while working out. It's pretty cheap for the membership...actually super cheap and I was just wanting some opinions. All are welcome of course but I want to know how helpful they are with obese members... I've been to places where I am completely ignored and they act like I'm diseased and they might catch my fatness :grumble:
Anyways let me know what you think! I'm about to take the plunge and get a membership!

I am a member, I go twice a week on average just to mix things up. I also use the tanning. It's a great beginners gym, advanced athletes will find it insufficient and I think all should know that. However, as someone who is new I say go for it. I have never felt judged and it's a great mix of people from experienced to amateaur.0

I go to PF. twice a week aswell just to mix it up!! No one there will judge you. ( I was obese when I started a year ago and no one judged me or made me feel uncomfortable etc) Dont worry about if their helpfull or not. ( I cringe every time I see them train a new member etc) You have plenty of friends and work out buddies here for advice and support. Good luck.0

not the gym for me. but then again im a former jock who loves lifting heavy weights and doing generally tough routines. i went to a pf once and didn't like the weight rules and it was the only place i've had someone who worked in a gym discourage my from doing my hiit routine.
basically it seemed like a gym for people who wasn't too hop on a cardio machine for 60-90 minutes and read a book or on magazine.on the bright side it was very cheap0 -

OMG! I joined PF last week and I am loving it. I have been going almost everyday. I am very shy when it comes to exercising and this place is great for people like me. I go in do what I need to do and really feel like no one is judging whether you walk, jog, run or lifting weights.
I hope you have the opportunity to join and enjoy it. My friends think I am crazy because I am so happy to go to the gym.0 -
I go to PF 5-6 times a week for an hour right now. I also like the unlimited tanning. I've never had a membership at another gym, so don't really know the difference. I've never had any issues there and have been a member for a couple of years now.0

they diddnt need to tell me anything. i didnt see a weight over 25 lbs at the one i went to, soooo that automatically ruled out heavy lifting to me
and guess what, there are different locations to this gym, so the odds that the one i went to is the same one you go to is probably slim to none, so is it ok if we have different experiences? :laugh:0
