how do you lose belly fat without losing lower body size?

I want to lose my belly fat but want to keep the size of the rest of my body... is this possible? My belly looks like I'm about 3 months pregnant, while my lower body is a good size for me. I maybe could lose a few inches from my thighs, but I don't want to lose my shape.

Any suggestions?

    It's not possible to target fat loss from certain areas of your body, tummy included, so you would need to lower your weight through a healthy diet and exercise, the regular old way. Also, while you will lose weight from all over your body, you won't lose any shape that you already have, you'll just become a smaller version of the shape you already are.

    Why don't you try focusing on weight lifting? If done right, your tummy will lose inches, but your calves and thighs could look more shapely and defined from building up muscle.

    Thanks... I think weight lifting is a great idea, I keep meaning to do more of it
