I have only been on this site for a few weeks and I read the forums regularly. It makes me CRAZY when ppl tell others that consuming sugar will cause diabetes!

Many factors contribute to diabetes including genetics, lifestyle, & weight. HOWEVER, eating sugary foods in-and-of-itself does NOT cause diabetes. Genetics (something ppl have zero control over) plays a huge factor.

There are many ppl with diabetes that are NOT overweight, eat a balanced diet and still have developed diabetes. There are also ppl who ARE overweight, have sedentary lifestyles, and a poor diet and never develop diabetes.

Don't get me wrong, good nutrition & an active lifestyle may hold off diabetes (avoid it?) if you are genetically predisposed. THen again, it may not. YOu can 'do everything right' and still get diabetes- eating or not eating sugary foods doesn't have anything to do with it.

PLEASE- if you are concerned about diabetes, see your physician. If you think I'm nuts, read this:
