Ugh one more week of torture...

So, I put in my notice at work...my last day is a week from tomorrow. I work in an office with 4 other ladies in a very close proximity. My boss' office is next to mine and 3 of them were gathering in there, with the doors open, whispering about how inconvenient it is for me to put in my notice before my boss takes her all inclusive vacation to Cancun. Oh...and that they saw this coming. Well, I'm not quitting because I hate the job (although I do), but rather that we're relocating 1,200 miles away. Not sure what exactly they saw coming, but either way... why do grown a** women have to act so catty?

Please someone tell me I am not the only one who works in an office like this. I would be relieved knowing it is like this at other places, too!

I'm b*tchy and would have went right into the office - while they were gossiping and said "How nice of you all to discuss me and my life when I'm sitting next door. However, if you plan to do so, you MIGHT want to get your facts straight. And keep in mind that life isn't ALL about you".

And walked out. Not sure I would have gone back to work either. But, that's just me.

Oh and I don't work in an office setting, but I have some extremely catty women at my job too. And there's one that is sooo two faced.. UGH

Who cares? You're relocating 1,200 miles away. Grind their gears a little bit more and take a few sick days in the next week. Make sure to get a physical if you have health insurance and dental checkups if you have dental insurance.

Hang in there. Just one more week. I do agree that some women can be very catty. I'm sure this makes you even happier to be getting out of there!

Yes!! The two faced thing is a huge issue here, too. The girl who said she saw it coming admits she is very non-confrontational and it p*ssed me off because there's no way if I approached her about it that she would tell me to my face that she isn't surprised.

I'm gonna let them keep running their mouth though... who knows what they are saying when the doors are actually closed and I can't hear them.

BTW - I like how you would've approached it. I need to grow a set before I can do that lol

Your not the only one that has office biotches. I work in a small office myself.. two other woman.. and put it this way.. I would never hand either one of them a knife.. as it would be in my back. My only saving grace is they can't touch me because my boss likes me and they know it.. Hang in there.. one more week.. and if you have sick time..burn it. Plus.. don't do **** your last week. Good luck to you.

First off, congratulations on your move! The start of a new adventure is always so exciting! Secondly, you're going to find idiots wherever you go. I work in a developmental center, assisting developmentally disabled adults with daily living skills. I'm in very close proximity to my coworkers, and while some are great to work with, there are others who refuse to pull their own weight. I used to get infuriated all the time, but the only one hurting was me. Now, I do my job and don't worry about what doesn't get done where others are concerned. They get paid the same as I do and would let those of us who work do it all. I just refuse to be used like that. There's always some form of drama going on too, if you let yourself get drawn into it. My favorite soap operas were cancelled, but there's no end to the entertainment once I clock in. I hope you find a job in your new location that you enjoy. Good luck!

Aww - thank you! This was very refreshing to read. I like your approach to not getting upset because you're right, it does only end up hurting yourself. Not worth the stress! I see your picture and ticker have palm trees in them. Do you live in Florida by chance? That's where I'll be moving to! Can't wait :-)

No, I live in Ohio by way of Michigan. My family and I were on vacation in Jamaica when that photo was taken. Gotta say, it's a great place to get rid of stress! My daughter lived in Florida for a few years and my father-in-law is in North Daytona Beach. Where in Florida will you be moving? I'm sure you'll love it! Have a safe journey!

Jamaica? Even better! I knew the picture looked pretty tropical! What a small world... I live in Michigan and actually live in Sylvania, OH right on the border of MI/OH for a couple of years. We will be moving 10 miles south of Daytona Beach to a town called Ormond Beach.

If you need letters of recommendation, stay nice in the office. Don't burn your bridges.

My office is nice. =) Well, for the most part. I heard two people really ragging on some others, but other than that it's a positive atmosphere. On the plus side, you'll be out of there!
