Food Addiction

For several years, I was unsuccessful in losing weight because I had a severe food addiction. Food was a coping mechanism for other areas of my life in which I was unhappy, and I wasn't in the right place where I could see food as fuel, rather than pleasure.

Now I have divorced, and after removing that emotional issue, my food addiction is completely gone! :) I have lost a lot of weight and I have no need to reach for food in order to cope.

After speaking to a lot of friends who are also overweight, I've realized that there are so many food addicted people out there, and they will never be able to lose weight because they haven't dealt with the emotional issues related to food.

What are you guys' experiences with food addiction and food being used as a coping mechanism for emotional issues?
