Arguments With Family Over Sun-Bathing?

Hey!
Anyone out there having arguments with family over sun bathing? My boyfriend and I have been fighting none stop about my desires to sit out in the sun now that we are finally getting some nice weather. Any idea on how I can help him see my desire to look my best. I'm working so hard to lose weight and I really want a little summer glow to go along with it. Since when did that become such a bad thing? It's not like I'm going to a tanning salon every night.
