Dehydrator
I just picked up a dehydrator and a food-sealer (the heat sealing bags that will extract air before closing the item giving it a potentially longer storage life)
Anyone else have one and use a dehydrator? Any suggestions for items to get started with? I'm definitely planning to do some jerky as I can buy the meat for $12/lb or jerky for $55/lb so I'll enjoy buying about 4-5 times the meat to make it myself. Garden season is still some time off, I haven't even started my seedlings yet I may start some by the end of the month, the raspberries and strawberries should be in high production this year so I want to dry my own... just looking for more ideas.

You can make fruit leather from the berries for a snack. A lot of raw foodists make macaroons in the dehydrator. I haven't tried them, but they sound good. I'm going to give it a try when I get some spare time.0
