What can I accomplish in 33 days???

I have 33 days until my hubby and I head off to Costa Rica! He is in sales and earns these incredible trips. I'm usually the largest lady involved and it's pretty embarassing. While I don't expect to win any awards for 'babe on the beach', I'd like to not be mistaken for a 'beached whale' while sunbathing... (Sorry, I usually make jokes to fend off the negativity).
Anyway, I guess I"ll be dusting off the 30 Day Shred video, and sticking to my diet plan pretty strictly. I really hope to have some good toning and maybe 8-10 pounds of weight loss before I go. I hope that's a reasonable expectation! (I'm 236 so I 'should' be able to do that).
WISH ME LUCK!!!! :drinker:

Hi
A realistic target would be 2lbs per week. So based on 4 weeks, you should definatly be able to lose 8lbs. Maybe more
Good luck!! x0 -
Thanks! Oh, and congratulations on your VERY substantial weight loss! So impressive!!!0

That's awesome! I'd love to have someone along for the ride! :flowerforyou:
I have a 1/4 marathon I'm walking on 5/5 too... I think the more weight I lose, the faster I'll be. I can already walk the distance with no problem, but I really want to speed up to get to a 16 minute mile... so far, my best long-distance average is 16:44. I'm also going to be walking a 1/2 marathon in October!0 -
I'm not sure if this has truth to it, but I always believed the higher you weigh the faster you lose your weight. I started at 310 and now I'm 273. I did it in about two months while eating healthy and exercising. There was no fad diet type starving involved. Does anybody know why this is?

I think there is some merit to that... Your weight loss for 2 months is INCREDIBLE!!! Not sure of the logistics of why, so I can't answer your question, but I would LOVE your results!0

1. Two pounds is a much smaller percentage of 310 than of 120 (say), so two pounds per week is much smaller percentage loss.
2. A bigger body uses many more calories just moving around, so exercise is much more effective calorie burner for a bigger person.
3. A bigger person starts off with a bigger total daily energy expenditure (TDEE), so can have a bigger deficit and still remain above the minimum amount of food needed to remain healthy (1200 net calories for a woman, for example).
There are probably also complicated metabolic reasons related to how fat cells work . . . .0 -
What can you accomplish in 33 days? Lots.
You can completely transform the way you eat and think about food. You can get into an exercise routine. You can feel stronger and more alive every day. And you can drop anywhere around 1-10 lbs, some of which will be fat. Don't delay, start today. And don't consider your trip The End; consider it a small break from your new routine.0 -
I have lost 11 lbs in 20 days. And I am eating healthy and enough so I am not hungry all the time. Just need to set your mind to it. :-)0

good luck and have fun0

Insanity would be a good workout for you in such a short period of time.0

I lost 3lbs doing the 30 Day Shred but have lost another 6 since I swap the shred with running. I'm only a beginner runner mind you so I don't go very far or very fast. But it seems like that extra cardio mixed in with the strength in the 30 Day Shred has really helped me to shift the pounds. Do you have access to an eliptical machine? It's much better for the knees but you get the same sort of work out.
I'd say watching what you eat (logging every last morsal that passes your lips!) and exercising at least 6 times a week for 30 minutes you'd be bound to lose 10lbs at least (and that is one dress size!)
Keep up the great work!0 -

I'd say #2 is a BIG reason. As a little lady, I'd had to work out 2 or 3 times harder than you would to lose a pound. Use this to your advantage, because the more you lose, the harder it is to lose.0 -
just keep on dieting and add excercise and you could lose 10lbs in 30 days.......i did it.
but even if you don't, you just be yourself and have fun. don't worry about what other people think......you are a very pretty woman.
good luck and have a wonderful time!!0 -
With good eating and daily excercise, you can drop 8-10 pounds, maybe even more. Be sure to drink plenty of water. Anytime I slack on my water, the scale tells off on me...0

I know this is the case for myself. I've lost 35 lbs in two months, with very little exercise. I know the heavier you are the more water you retain so that's some of the first couple of weeks weight loss, but exercising is also harder on a larger person so you burn 2-3x more calories than the average 150-200 lb person.0 -
YOU CAN DO IT!
log everything and drink water lots of water if you want to snack drink water then have some water. Your new exercise should be getting up to go to the bathroom.
Good Luck.0 -
YOu CAN do it! Have a wonderful time!0

Kealey,
Look up Isagenix. Try their 9 day plan. It is a combination of protein shakes, meals and some cleanse days. It sounds like it would be really hard but it isn't. I lost 10.4 pounds on the 9 day plan and I am now doing their 30 day plan. Our friend lost 20 pounds in 11 days.
Good luck0 -
Check out the Dukan diet book from your local library. There are four phases to the diet and in the time allowed you will be in phase two before your trip. The first phase last 3 to seven days depending on your goal weight loss. Also check out his web site and do the free assesment, it really gave me the motivation that I can do this, I have always been big and have a big frame and he addresses body build and an actual weight you can achive and keep for the long term. I have been at this for about six weeks and have a total loss of 21 lbs and about 30 more togo. This should start you on your way. Please read the entire book and you can do this in steps. It took me about two weeks to get thru it because I started it in the phases and finish the the book after I was comfortable with phase two.
I think you could make your goal plus some extra.0 -
Thanks, everyone! I will definitely look further into those suggestions!!!0

Hello!
I just wanted to put in my thoughts and they are proven thoughts, not just what I THINK is possible.
I have a plan that has worked for me and also 4 other people, all being around the same size range!
You have to follow it 100% but I PROMISE you it works. And it is not unhealthy if you follow it correctly!
First you start with the 3 day diet plan: http://www.everydiet.org/diet/3-day-diet
It says you can replace certain items with others but do not do that because it will decrease the amount you lose. After the 3 day diet plan that jumpstarts your weight loss you do 30 days of what follows:
Drink NO LESS than 100 ounces of water a day and only drink water, NOTHING else. Do not eat before 6am and do not eat after 7pm.
Breakfast: 1 packet of weight control oatmeal, 1 banana, and a bagel thin with fat free cream cheese.
OR
1 cup of special k cereal with 1/2 cup of skim milk, 1 apple, and 2 slices of bacon.
OR
3 Egg whites scrambled and topped with a small amount of salsa, 2 small sausage links, and a fat free yogurt.
Mid morning snack: A string cheese with special k fruit crisps(one serving).
Lunch: 1 special k protein shake OR 1 slim fast with a healthy sized salad on the side.
Salad: Green leaf lettuce, tomatos, cucumbers, carrots and spinach. 2 tbsp of any fat free dressing.
Afternoon snack: Any variety of 100 calorie snack packs.
Dinner: And variety of either lean cusine or smart one with a side of steamed broccoli or carrots.
This gets very tedious and boring but I guarantee you will lose no less then 20 pounds and maybe more, also adding exercise on top of this eating plan will boost your weight loss as well!
Good luck!!! : )
I have lost a total of 54 pounds by the way and I am very heathy and doing great! And these are the kinds of plans I follow!0 -
Thanks and congrats on your amazing weight loss!! Very inspirational!!!0
