I didn't read through all the posts, so forgive me if any of this is a repeat:

    1. There is a Japanese proverb that goes, "Fall down 7 times, get up 8". Who cares how many times you failed? If this really means something to you, it's worth another shot.

    2. Eating right and working out is not an all or nothing endeavor.

I think you are much more likely to succeed if you ease into it.

Personally, I don't do well when I had been eating 2300 calories a day and then all of a sudden drop to 1200 calories a day. That's a disaster waiting to happen. I also don't do well when I've been sitting in a chair for a year and then all of a sudden want to work out all day long. By making drastic changes in my food, I end up hungry and resentful. By making drastic changes in my workouts (or lack thereof) I end up sore and resentful.

It is much easier to take baby steps. So, if you're eating 2300 calories, eat 2100 calories a day for a week... then try 1900 calories a day for the next week, etc, etc. If you are not working out, try working out for 5 minutes a day for a week, then ten, then fifteen.... same idea.

Granted, you won't lose the calculated "2lbs per week" that everyone seems to want, but by taking things slower you are more likely to stick with it and ten years from now you will thank yourself, even if you haven't lost anything ten weeks from now... yes, it is a very slow process, but you'll be a lot less likely to gain it back.

    3. Aaaaand last but definitely not least: You are no one's b!tch. If you bring home the groceries, you decide what everyone eats. Period. No one gets to argue unless they are buying the food, cooking it, and washing the dishes and taking out the trash afterward.

I hear too many women say, "my husband this, my kids that.... blah blah blah." I don't care what your family expects, nor does your body care. Do what is best for you. They will b!tch and moan about it and more than likely, they will eventually shut up and eat it too. If they are hungry enough, they will go along with your program. If they are not hungry, then they really didn't need your help as much as you thought they did.

    I totally understand you.

Portion sizes! I know that eating healthy food is very important while losing weight, but if you can't afford it just eat half of what you've been eating.

If you can not stop eating do sth what will distract your thinking about food.
Good luck! You can do it.

Well I re lost the lb I had regain. On what I ate yesterday I don't understand how I didn't gain. I don't understand my body and how it reacts to food at all.

If I could just get this loose gain loose thing under control then id be at my goal. Heck I lost 2 lbs this week just the same lb twice.

I can't really speak to the familly support issue but I can talk about yo yo dieting as a whole. I've been up and down many times before- mostly becuz of shedding weight before pageants and cheerleading competitions. Also my mother has yo yo dieted many times in her life and I suppose her mentality has affected me more than I know.

This year I made a commitment to myself to lose weight and MAINTAIN. I want to log my food for a full year- regardless of if I reach my goal. The only way to do that it seems is to change the way I approach food. I have to think of food as fuel for my body. And I can't think of anything as "off limits" or "bad for me." That type of thinking always leads to binges and relapses. Instead, I think of foods as a spectrum. And on days when I have more carbs then I my goal I try to work out a little bit harder in the gym. Or if I eat processed sugar one day I try to have an extra serving of veggies the next. It's about balance. And for me- it's best to tell myself that I can have anything I want. Because when I do deprive myself of anything at all... at some point- I over indulge on that thing.

The key to stopping yo yo dieting is to make a commitment to long term health changes. Easier said than done- but possible nonetheless. AND to change the way you view food.

Feel free to reach out to me for support. I've been there. :flowerforyou:
