Increasing my calories and STARVING!!

Ok, so I'm buying into the idea of eating ALL my exercise calories back.....finally. Yes, I know...I'm a slow learner. Anyway, for the past 10 years of my life I've eaten about 1500 calories a day..period. Regardless of how many calories I burned in a day from exercise, I always ate around 1500 calories (and there were/are days I would burn 6-800 calories in a workout). It got me through losing all the weight from 3 pregnancies and helped me maintain in between pregnancies, etc, etc. But, now that I'm done having babies and trying to hit my ultimate goal weight, I've hit a serious plateau!!! I've been the same weight since last summer and have been trying to get the last 10 off since then.

My husband and I are smack dab in the middle of INSANITY (we just started our last 30 days) and so I'm deciding to up my calories and see if it helps the scale budge. Anyway, since upping calories (I've been slowly upping since we started INSANITY 30 days ago) I've gone from my standard 1500ish to about 2000 per day and I swear I'm MORE hungry now then when I was only eating 1500 a day!!

I do believe part of it is due to INSANITY.....I've never worked out so hard in my entire life (and I'm in good shape, very fit) and my metabolism seems to be buuuuurning through everything I eat. But, my question is has anyone else UPPED their calories and felt more hungry? The scale still has not budged (veeeery frustrating) since upping but atleast I haven't gained!

I'm starting to feel very sad/frustrated/discouraged that I work my tail off, literally and can't seem to get the stupid scale to budge!! My stats are: female, 5'6", 150pounds. So, I'm technically not overweight but do have some extra fat I'd like to lose in the butt/hip/thigh area. I have toned up a lot already and lost some inches just in the first 30 days of INSAITY....I guess I'm just looking for some encouragement that I'm doing the right thing?!?! anyone? anyone? =)

Switch to heavy lifting. You are going to have trouble losing at this point, considering your stats. Nor should you worry about losing at this point. You want to look leaner, and be stronger. Lift.

It's very, very common to get more hungry right after upping your cals. I have gone from 1400 to 2500 cals a day in stages and at each increase had two or three days of HUNGER. When my body realized I was going to keep feeding it this amount- it relaxed and stopped confusing my increase with a binge.

Keep at it- give it time to work.

Scale weight isn't always the best indicator of correct fitness and health level. Don't worry about the scale, look at how your clothes fit, how you feel and if you're seeing more definition.

    Same thing..upped calories..thought I can't eat all this...within a day or two I was ravenous for more.

I've read that when u up ur cals from a pretty high deficit, that ur metabolism is catching up. Meaning, ur metabolism is increasing which is exactly what it should do :) I heard once it catches up completely, the lbs will fall off. When u r at too high of a deficit, which u were, ur metabolism slows down. When u start eating where u should be, it increases. Give it time.
