Can't Shake My Relationship With Food

So at my worst weight, I weighed roughly 440lbs. I'm down to 410-415. For the last year I've yo-yo'ed up and down the scale. I'll drop down this far and put it all back on. I've lost and gained 30lbs throughout the last year.

When I'm not strictly scrutinizing my relationship with food, I'm a passive eater. I don't binge, but I do graze, and I do go over. I'm also quite the social eater.

Anyways, I've been having the opposite problem lately. I despise food. I hate looking at it. I hate everything about it. I'll go to the gym for two hours every other day and people keep saying nice and encouraging things to me, but I just don't believe it because nobody seems to be willing to tell me the things I don't want to hear so encouragement often feels disingenuous. The more I'm praised the angrier I get because I personally am not seeing or feeling the results, and I know that it's not healthy for me to be like that either. I wish I could find a natural balance because I don't want to fall off the wagon this time. And this is usually the weight I'm at when I give up. I don't want to give up.

Don't give up! I struggle with my food relationship too. You deserve to love and nurture yourself in a healthy and positive way. I am 50 and starting this journey over again for what seems like the millionth time. I won't give up, I can't give up. I owe it to myself. So do you.

Be easy on yourself. Patience & consistency are the key. Is there something going on in your life that makes you swing one way or the other? I tend to not eat when depressed and over eat when stressed. Try to start thinking of food as fuel. Everyone has to experiment to find what works best for them with weight loss. You do deserve the healthy fit body you want.

You might start noting how you feel each time you eat and maybe make a note at the end of the day if something is happening say a very stressful work day or a sick child etc.

You can still have a great relationship with food!
Just make sure it doesnt keep you out after your curfew!
By curfew I mean above your TDEE for the day.

That's the thing about food, to much can be harmful, to little can also be harmful, so finding the right amount in order to remain healthy can be difficult, but not impossible

It's okay to despise certain types of food, but try to remember that lean meats, fruits and vegetables are what's going to help you achieve your goals.

Also, as long as you're making progress (and working out for 2-hours in a gym IS impressive, I don't car who you are) then accept the compliments in the spirit that they are given. :flowerforyou:

Good luck and keep up the good work!
