Hello everybody. I am feeling good today. I ran for 2.5 miles, did 50 squats, 12 push ups and stretched. My body feels good and happy. Whan I first started on this journey I could only walk for 15 minutes and could not do a single push up. I am very happy with where I am right now. There's no going back to sitting on the couch mindlessly stuffing food in my face.

    So, what's for dinner tonight?

We are having grilled salmon, corn on the cob, spinach salad and blueberries.

    Have a great day everyone.

Hi everyone! I've had a good day so far. I usually walk on Monday's to pick up my son from school. It takes about 15 min with my daughter. But today she had a playdate with a friend from preschool, so I was able to get a good walk in to pick up Will. It only took me 9 minutes.

I hope everyone had a great weekend!

dinner tonight will be noodle pudding, ground beef and applesauce and raisins.

i did leslie sansone dvd this morning. can definitely tell i haven't exercised in a week. my legs felt weaker. i didn't push myself b/c i'm being easier on myself this week. and i changed my goals down to 50min rather than 60min of exercise this week.
i don't want to overdo it again and wind up sick again.

just got back from a haircut--it looks good, i must say. but man, when they have you in the chair and your hair's wet and no make up....i look and feel so old and ugly. i think they do that on purpose so that by the time you leave you are sure to be happy with the outcome--b/c anything is better than the starting look!

anyway, time for lunch. enjoy your afternoon all!

Stacey - I love noodles and can eat them every day. My kids unfortunately do not care for noodles. I think I have the only kids that do not eat pasta and hate mac&cheese.
Anyway, how do you make noodle pudding? I would love to make it just for myself even if no else wants it.

it's "kugel", a jewish dish. a sweet side.
wide egg noodles, sugar, eggs, tofutti sour cream or philadelphia cream cheese, cinnamon, applesauce
    sugared/buttered cornflake crumbs on top

if you want the real recipe, let me know and i'll pm it to you.

I love Kugel! I have a Jewish friend who did a Seder meal at our church the Wednesday before Easter. Although instead of noodles, he made his with Matzo, which I also found out was really good with peanut butter.

Stacey, would you mind giving me your recipe? My son might like it better with the noodles than the Matzo. My daughter loves Matzo, but my son doesn't.

Just curious as to what everybody does for exercise. I'd love it if you all share what and how much and when you exercise.

    I'll start

My main form of exercise right now is running. I am very happy to have a treadmill at my house that I can use every day. I run every morning as soon as I get up. I feed breakfast to my kids on a little table next to my treadmill. They eat their breakfast and watch me run. After I am done they take a turn on the treadmill for a few minutes. Also, during the day I do as many squats and push ups as I can. I might be doing them while I am playing with my kids or waiting for a cup of water to boil or anything else. Every time I remember - I do them. Also everytime I use the restroom I do triceps dips on the sink counter. Dispersing the workout throughout the day has done away with the excuse that I have no time to exercise.

    Anybody else wants to share?

GREAT ideas, slimkitty! i love the idea about the tricep dips! i try and do them sporadically thoughout the day on our ottoman. i've not been doing much for exercise...at least not as much as i should. our treadmill is downstairs and it's just not easy to get down there during the day with my 6 month old. but i got an exercise ball early last week, i've been doing different exercises and reps with it. i really could use some cardio. i plan to start getting out and walking. if it's not raining, it's cold. and if it's not cold, it's windy! ugh! should start to cooperate soon. love the midwest weather.....

today was my weigh in day and i only lost one pound this past week. i know that's still good, but i aim for at least 1.5 lbs! :grumble:

:drinker: You're my hero! Sounds like all my goals. How long did it take you to reach them? I feel the same about Pilates. When I started, on Mother's Day, I couldn't hardly touch my toes! I like the way you put it, too, "my body feels good and happy!" That feeling is the greatest! :drinker: I actually skipped dinner tonight. (slap on the wrist) I hate eating just 'cause I should. I'm so not hungry but I had a great healthy lunch. My sisters came over to visit and I cooked for them. We had turkey breast cutlets saute'd with onions and scallions in a light an juis, edamame with carrots, and brown rice. I didn't over eat but was happily full.

I LOVE the idea of the "stop, drop, and exercise" whenever you can throughout the day! I'll start that tomorrow! The sink exercise sounds great.

I like to start my workout with the treadmill, I was doing a 12 minute mile before my son's accident. Right now, I'm doing about 15 minutes. Each day I go a little faster. Anyway, after that, I do my Malibu Pilates AR Chair routines. I LOVE THIS CHAIR! It works every part of my body and has trained me to be mindful of my body even when not working out. You know, tummy in, tush in, breath from the diaphram not the stomach. I really love it. I do that for 30-45 min. a day. I'm getting the Suzamme Sommers EZ Gym this week (on its way as we type) and can't wait for that! Well, that's my usual day. Anyone else care to share? You get great ideas by sharing...

On nice days I like to go out for a good walk after dinner while my husband is getting the kids ready for bed. I'm usually gone about 20 minutes, so I'm back in time for hugs & kisses. For days that it's raining or my husband's not at home, I have a treadmill in the kids' playroom. It was so cute watching them deciding what toys they could get rid of so that "mommy can lose weight"! And they still have 3 times the toys I did at their age! I also have a strength training video that I just started using again that I do after they've gone to bed. All total, I probably work out about 40 minutes a day at this point. It's great to get some more ideas on how to work in exercise throughout the day.

matza kugel is a totally diff consistency. can't say i care for it, but then again it's that i grew up on the other kind. so it's part sensory memories that makes it comforting. i'll post up the recipe tomorrow. dh just got home.

btw, whole wheat matza is especially yummy.

My exercise--well I'm proud to say that I've finally done something the last couple of days! I got so lazy there for a while. My husband was out of town, then my daughter was teething so pretty much attached to me all day long, then husband got sick, then I was a bit sick (still am, but not bad). Anyhow, through it all, somehow my daughter got on a GOOD napping routine--let's see how long it lasts of course. So each morning I have 2 hours straight that I can get things done. So I do 30 day shred, and then I try and go for an evening walk with my daughter as often as possible.

As for food--I'm terrible on that end. I know how to cook healthy when I was living in the States, but grocery shopping here is a nightmare and to even find all of the ingredients, it's like a wild goose chase ALL over the city--no joke. It may involve going to at least 3 or 4 different stores and usually several different parts of the city. So I have ot make do with what I can get easily--so no fancy recipes. (Even lettuce is hard to find--the shop that had it near me just closed down). So I try and stick with fruits and vegetables for snacks. I made a nice salad last night from onion, tomato, cucumber, black pepper, lemon juice, and a small pinch of salt. I added a bit of unsalted cashews for the protein. It was pretty good. I'd rather a nice fatty ceaser but ya know..gotta do what's healthy right? :)

Amy - I started on February 21st. I could barely walk for 15 minutes and after that my knees hurt so much I could only crawl up the stairs. But, I kept at it, I did the piulates, I kept walking a little bit longer every day. One day as I was walking I thought I would tried running just to see what happens. It felt good and I loved it so much and have been running every day since.
I could only do one push up at first. Again I kept pushing myself and before I knew it I could do 12 in a row. So I just keep setting new goals for myslef now and not it's not about loosing weight anymore (although that is a nice side effect). It's about running faster, getting farter, sweating more. I love it. I have the energy to play with my kids, I no longer sit on the bench at the playground, I actively play with the kids and feel full of energy.

Sorry to brag so much, but writing all this down actually is even more motivating for me.

All the best to all of you.

hello everybody. Sorry am taking up the board so much tonight.

I broke my ring finger today. I was trying to catch a ball that my daughter was throwing to me. I don't know what happened and before I knew it I was in excruciating pain. Good thing it's on my left hand and I am rightie. So, no push ups for me for a while, but I can still run do squats and plenty of other things.
Hopefully with in 3 weeks I'll be back to normal.

Morning y'all! I feel so much better today. Thanks for all your well wishes.

I know what you mean, Dana. When I got the little one in my picture with me, Diamond, my hubby wasn't too happy either. We already have a Pomeranian, pure white - just beautiful, Princess. Anyway, he said the Diamond had to go back. I told him that he couldn't return a gift...I made it his Valentine's Day gift! TIming was perfect for me. Anyway, needless to say, they're inseparable now.

Good luck with puggle. What's the name?

ahmee, dh is SO mad. and i totally get why.
so we talked some more this morning. i said we could "undo" my mistake by bringing the dog back to the store (w/o getting a refund as dog is non-returnable) or to have the vet or a puggle group find a free home quick quick.
his reasoning is that we didn't need this expense, this responsibility, this complication in our lives rt now. and i had agreed to wait till the baby was older and a couple of other things were sorted out. and i just got impatient.

i see his point. i agree with his points. i feel bad for creating such dis-harmony. :brokenheart:

and now i have to see if i can undo this mess i made. and i'd have to lie about it to the kids. i wdn't put the blame on him.

we don't have a name for her yet....

Well, I do understand BOTH your sides. I am a dog lover, animal lover in general. I can't imagine not having my babies. And, we were very blessed that we didn't have to buy our babies. They were given to us by young people who couldn't give them the time and attention they needed. The pure white pom, Princess, was a show dog. When she became too old to show anymore, they gave her up. The other tiny one, Diamond, came from a teacher I work with who didn't have the time for her and knew she was being neglected. So, we were very blessed.

That being said, I also understand your dilema with the kids. I know you can't get a refund but, what if you place an add in the paper for "FREE TO GOOD HOME." Or, you could find someone who may be elderly or someone with special needs where the puggle could bring some joy and meaning into their lives. That way, you're blessing someone else and, in turn, God will bless you. There are alot of people out there with special needs and the elderly who would love and benefit from such a companion but simply can't afford it.

As for your kids, I don't know how old they are but, if they'll understand, sit them down and explain to them your situation and let them know how happy they will make someone who is less fortunate than y'all and that God will bless them, too. Let them know that, even though it will be difficult to give the dog up, it is the best thing for the pup and your family. Let them know that when things get financially better for the family, you all will try to find another puppy that everyone can agree on.

Just what I would do. I know how blessed we are to have these dogs in our lives. I don't know what my son would have done without them while he has been laid up so long from his accident. They are very theraputic. His having a broken neck doesn't allow him much freedom so, the babies really help keep his spirits up.

Please let me know how it turns out. I ssoooo empathize with your situation.

Awww Stacey :brokenheart: I hope you can work something out and keep her!! I'm an animal lover! We have a little Maltese(Emily). I, too, was impatient. We really didn't have the money at the time, but I saw her and couldn't wait. Broke the bank. I had originally planned to get a rescue, but I just could NOT resist when I saw her. Now she's almost 4 years old! My husband's mom got a puppy a couple years ago and his dad was NOT happy. After a few days, she grew on him, though. Maybe yours will come around, too!

I hope I'm safe to say this here, I've not seen any men in here yet! Do any of you notice a fluctuation in weight during your time of the month? I know we aren't supposed to weigh every day, but I do every couple days. I've noticed a slight gain and I DON'T like it!
