When is the best time to weigh in?

Hey everyone, I have a quick question that may vary in answer, and I may have the right answer and not know it but, when is the right time to weigh in?

I weigh in once a week on thursday morning. But I do it at 5:20am, (after shower) my entire body is still lagging. Another factor is (im about to get personal here) that I have yet to go to the bathroom and drop the weight from dinner at 6 the night before. For some reason, I just CANNOT POOP that early in the morning. It never happens for me.

Could this be hindering my weight check-in every thursday? Every time I check in is a few lbs heaveier or lighter. But never dramatic.

Sidenote: I wanted to start taking measurements so that I can actually see if my body is thinning out anywhere.. How do you do it, if you do do it?

Soon as you`ve had your first pee in the morning...I think thats the most reliable time..

Take measurements from neck, waist, thighs, calfs, arms (biceps) forearms once a month...Or use fat calipers to check body fat...Not the most accurate, but it gives you a general idea.

If you are consistent about the time and circumstances, I don't think it really matters that much. Progress will still show in the long run.

I weigh in once a week, usually on Thursday morning after I use the bathroom, before I eat or drink. I've have problems with my bowels too before, but I still weighed. If you only weigh once a week, then you're body should regulate itself out and by the next week, you'll see the extra weight lost that you were holding in because of your stool. This is just from my experience.

I agree with nikki and I also weigh in once a week. As for those measurements, do it...for a few weeks I wasn't seeing a loss on the scale but clothes were looser and I was loosing inches. It is such a good method, the scale can be an enemy sometimes.

I weigh in every day for no real reason. I'm just curious. Honestly, I've never been able to poop right before I weigh in, so I just kind of count poop as part of my bodyweight. I'm full of it even when not on the scale...

so to better motivate myself, should I take measurements of my flabby parts?

    haha I actually used the word flabby. >_<;

My arms are horrible when it comes to flabby and since adding weights to my workout, the flab has started to tone up so my answer would be yes, measure those parts.

haha, it took me a while to even use flabby as a description :)

I always weigh in Friday mornings right after using the bathroom, butt naked. But last week for some reason I felt lighter on Saturday morning so I weighed myself again and I was 1lb lighter! But I never have regular BMs, maybe 3 a week, so I don't usually take that into consideration.

It's the monthly trend line that matters. So just weigh yourself the way you have been and it will all work out.

Simply put. first thing after you get rid of your waste. dont eat or drink. thats the best time because it eliminates as many things as possible. the only way you'll ever know your real weight is body comp weighing which you would have to go to a sports science lab to get done so its never an option to normalllll people!!! so as long as its the same routine i wouldnt stress.

It is a personal preference as to how many times one weighs themselves they just need to be made aware of the fact that there are many reason as to why one gains or losses weight. You can gain between 2-5 lbs throughout the day, also if you don’t use the same scale that can cause issues as well.
    Take me for example:
Say I weigh in Tuesday morning at 5am and it tells me I weigh 155 lbs I eat right that whole day work out for an hour or so. I get back on the scale Wednesday morning at 5am again I dropped down 153 lbs. I eat so, so on Wednesday, I deiced I wanted a steak for dinner with all the trimmings (was it the right choice for me?) (NOT FOR ME!)
So then I go to weigh in Thursday, morning at 5am I weigh 158 lbs so now I am like oh crap but then I go back and look to see what I did differently. So now it is Friday morning I weigh at 2pm in the afternoon no change I am still 158lbs.

You get the point you could weigh in once a month every other day or every day like me, you just need to beware of what you are eating, know what goes in and comes out. Water is a key factor as well. Just be consistent with what time you weigh and what scale you use. Because I watch what I do I know scales can be off and don’t work.
Went to the doctor a while back the scale weighed me in at 130 lbs looked over at the nurse said I think your scale is broke she say’s why I said it is reading 130 lbs and she is like that is good. I said yeah it would be if it was true but I know what I weigh and I don’t think I dropped 28 lbs in 3 day’s! If I did that is a wonderful miracle cure I want to bottle up. If anything I weigh more so I jumped up on the scale and it said 158 lbs. Just beware.
