Help! Supplements to kick start weight loss? I feel like I'm

I am looking for any help I can get here. I have been trying to get down to my pre-twin baby weight for 2.5 years now. The closest I can get is within 5 lbs of my goal and then I plateau and end up going back up..... I can't tell you the frustration I am feeling because of this. I've recently dropped weights and am burning over 600 calories per day cardio wise and not losing. According to MFP I should be losing but am not, I'm actually going up.
I have a ton of friends who try fad diets, hcg diet (500 calories per day), atkins, etc. but the weight always comes back on them. Does anyone know of a good vitamin or supplement that I can take (offered in Canada) the kickstart my metabolism, I don't want a fad diet, just something to help. I feel like I am fighting a losing battle. Water btw I drink well over 8 bottles per day. HELP!! Starvation diets are not an option as I feel sick when I don't eat and I enjoy working out and definitely wouldn't be able to on 500 calories per day. Mind you my one friend dropped 8 lbs in one week on that diet

All the supplements I know of that claim to help weight loss, are a waste of money. If you want help, open your diary so people can look at it.0

How about opening up your food diary so we can have a look? How strict are you about recording everything? How are you estimating calorie burn?
There are some decent supplements but you need to get this stuff in line first. There is no magic pill.0 -

At first I was guilty of missing the odd cracker here, or cookie there, but lately I have been logging right down the last mini-cheese sandwich cracker (for example) I even sometimes log more than what I am eating to be safe (meaning portions). How do I open the food diary? I've only been back to regular logging this week. I went on break, guilty as charged.
I recently had my blood checked and iron and B12 were quite low. I have been told by friends B12 boosts your metabolism but 4 weeks worth of shots and no difference.0 -

I was doing les mills body pump classes every other day for awhile but almost passed out during a class, it kind of scared me, so I haven't gone back to the classes and have just gone back to cardio.0 -
How to Open up your diary -
Settings --> Diary Settings --> (scroll down) --> Diary Sharing and select public (or friends)
About strength training - Body Pump is not really a strength training class...more of a cardio class with some weights....There are weights but its all about high rep low weight etc.....That being said if you felt like you were going to black out there was something else going on...Maybe you hadn't eaten? Maybe you were dehydrated? Maybe just out of shape and pushing too hard? There are lots of possible causes..........Hit the weight room. Preferrably free weights but machines if you have to......Put on enough weight you can only do 5-10 reps........Do this 2-3 times.......Repeat for other muscles.0 -

I had no idea it wasn't a strength training class, now I feel silly. Thank you for sharing and I will try the free weights, before I was on the machines.... I have posted a request to be friends on here and have opened my diary. I welcome constructive criticism.0 -

- With low iron and low B12 you are in danger of becoming anemic or are already anemic (which may explain the almost passing out during the cardio). Iron is essential for building muscle. You need to get these deficiencies under control a little more urgently, maybe make that primary focus for now.
- Assuming you are doing everything right with respect to diet and exercise, have you set the right target weight for your body type and age?0 -

Re: the iron and B12, I have a follow-up with the doc tomorrow in which I am sure he will re-check my blood. Since finding out about both being low I am taking an iron pill once per day (something I am used to as I have had to take these on and off forever), as well the doctor prescribed B12 shots - 1 per week for 4 weeks and then once per month. I am on my 4th week of shots, which I get tomorrow.
As for my body type and age I know I managed to get down to 158 in 2008, just before I found out I was prego so I know it's attainable. I'm not looking to be super thin, it's not me. I have curves, just want to get rid of the uncontrollable roll when I sit down, or better yet thin out my thighs a little so they jiggle a little less. Health is important to me now, I LOVE working out.0 -
I would be very careful, diet supplements can be very risky to take. I don't condone them but to each their own. It is your body. Good luck!!!0

Good to know that you are having those checked. I have been dealing with low iron and anemia for about five years so I know what challenges it can bring.
I would suggest that you check with your doctor before taking any supplements. Some weight loss supplements interfere with absorption of food and you do not want anything interfering with your iron absorption - which is already on of the more difficult elements to absorb.0 -
Thanks and yes I wouldn't take anything without running it by my doctor, I trust his judgement. Iron is a B*&ch that's for sure. On and off for as long as I can remember I have had to take these pills I hate them. But they do make a difference in energy etc.0
