I am finding it impossible to stay within the sugar goal each day. Today for example, all I ate was salad and a V8 and I only have four grams left. I am sure I will probably go over after dinner. Does anyone have any tips or advice for keeping the sugar low?

I watch my sugar intake as well, but mostly from a carbohydrate standpoint. My body is very susceptible to small changes in carbs. Keep in mind that fiber has an effect on the sugar intake; it slows down your body's ability to absorb it.

What kind of sugars are you consuming? Are they processed sugars or sugars naturally occuring in the food, i.e. fresh strawberries? What was in the salad? Did you use dressing? Was it a commerically made dressing or something you made from scratch? Many commercially produced foods put sugar into the foods for flavor. Also, anything marked "Fat Free" has additional sugar added to make up for the flavor lost from the fat. I avoid those like the plague.

I know there's alot of questions in there. Make sure you log EVERYTHING you eat & drink. It will help highlight which foods are hindering or helping you to your goals.

    Hope it helps.

The only thing that had sugar in the salad was grape tomatoes. My other sugars the past few days came from strawberries, oranges, apples, V8, and wheat thins. Those are the main culprits. I have only been drinking water and have started using yellow mustard instead of salad dressing. That's why I am starting to worry that it is impossible for me to make the goal. I am prediabetic so I am really trying hard!

I have my sugar as one of my tracked thingies mainly to keep myself in check. I dont mind it hitting the red zone because the bulk of my sugar comes from fresh fruit and whatnot. But tracking sugar helped me give up soda and artificial juice because if I DID go WAY over, I would know that it came from a bad source.
