I just had my Gal bladder out 1 week ago....the pain was so awful I decided to have the surgery....Everytime I eat now I get sick...have you experienced this? What do you suggest to eat that sat well with you...do you have anything that changed about you since the surgery? I gained 20lbs in the hospital, and 15 of those pounds came off, but like I said I'm afraid to eat because it might upset my stomach!!!
Any advice, or experiences you've had would be much appreciated!

I had mine out about 10 years ago and have several friends & family members who have had the surgery as well. It seems like everyone's different in what they can/can't eat. If your surgery was just a week ago, it might be a while before you know for sure what you can handle and what you can't. I know personally, the only thing that really bothers me is high-fat or greasy foods...fried stuff, ribs (or other high-fat pork products like bacon, sausage, etc.), beef...I rarely eat any of those things anymore and am prepared to be miserable for a while if I do. Trust me, you'll learn what you can and can't eat. Feel better soon!0

Hi. I had my gall bladder out 12 days ago after having a serious infection in October and being told i needed surgery. At the time i weighed 23st 7lbs and had constant indigestion and heartburn, but after being in hospital a week i started a very low fat diet and didn't have a single symptom since. In fact i felt healthier before i had surgery than i do now!! I have lost 5.5 stones since the end of October which has obviously been the biggest benefit and the reason why i don't have stomach problems anymore but i have noticed since the surgery i feel sick quite often, and when i had a couple of glasses of wine at the weekend...my 1st for ages...i had to leave it as i had terrible heartburn. I'm still following the low fat, low calorie diet so i hope not to get any major symptoms but i definitely have a little heartburn and indegestion since the op that wasn't there before and i have terrible wind after i eat!!( feel sorry for my family)....i'm hoping this settles down with time and hope you feel better soon too x0

Definitely speak with your doctor about this if you are afraid to eat, not normal.
Personal experience: Pre gall bladder surgery had to stay away from cheese and fried food. Post surgery - could eat anything I want (kinda unfortunately since I ended up 450+ lbs).
My sister had hers out and couldn't eat bananas or eggs for many many years. She can now, but its been 30 years for her.0 -
I had my gallbladder removed about 15 years ago. The only thing I remember about my post-op instructions was to avoid high fat foods for a few weeks. The surgeon told me that my liver would take over the function of the gallbladder but in the interim I had to live on a low fat diet. Nothing fried, greasy, fatty, etc. I lived on turkey and chicken. But after those few weeks I gradually added foods back(but I still avoided fatty food because it's bad for me). I haven't had any issues since having my gallbladder removed.0
