200 is way to low! I read on yahoo that a 60 minute class burns 1200 calories and my 60 min aerobics class only burns 600 calories for my weight. I think you burn so much more because it combines strength training with cardio to get a dynamic workout! I love it!!0

This article has some good info. I do a 1 hour class and use 20-35 lb weights for various moves and am estimating about 500 calories a class based on this article. According to a web site I found 0.09 calories per minute per Lb of body weight. i think that is high as the trainer was using 53lb kettlebells however I think you can probably double 200 if the class is quick paced.

Thanks for this - i just started doing kettlebell and this little equation should help me with calories burned! - I have been doing it for about a week now, my legs and arms are so sore today! I'm glad to know it's working0 -
I have been using ketltebells for 3+ years and not unusual to burn 600-700 calories in a kettlebell work out and because of high intensity intervals you the after workout calorie burn is incredible with 1000 calories over the next 4 hours. I recommend finding a place that does small group classes and learn the proper techniques of kettlebells for the most benefit and also not hurt yourself. Also HRM's are awesome. HeartRateMonitors dot com is a great site with good prices and Polar is an awesome brand, $70 will but a good one.0

i did a workout with them this morning for about 30 minutes, i used circiut training as you do diffrent moves. it said about 400 calories. i hope this is right!!!0

Calorie expenditure formulas for men and women are available from the "Journal of Sports Sciences." The formula for women is Calories = [(0.380 x VO2 max) + (0.450 x Heart Rate) + (0.274 x Age) + (0.0468 x Weight) - 59.3954] x Time / 4.184. The formula for men is Calories = [(0.404 x VO2 max) + (0.634 x Heart Rate) + (0.271 x Age) + (0.179 x Weight) - 95.7735] x Time / 4.184.

The problem with this is the SOLE determiner for calories burned is time...you can change your weight all you want, and as long as the time remains the same, it will spit out the same calories.
When you work out with Kettlebells, the weight of the bells is going to change the calories burned...just like regular weights. I'm going to burn more calories doing 1 minute of swings at 53 pounds than I will if I swing 20lbs for the same 1 minute period.
Since most kettlebell exercises are actually a combination of aerobic exercises, your BEST bet is to look to the aerobic equivalant and see if it allows a weight modifier. Examples would be Turkish Getups and Lunges. Snatches and Jerks would use the weightlifting equilvalent.
Where things get dicey are the unique exercises like Halo's and Figure 8's.
Taylorsm88's post was awesome...assuming you are a math whiz (I'm not). I work on the concept that as long as I have a fairly good ballpark, and I am keeping my calorie intake lower than that expenditure, then I am ok.0 -

So glad I found this discussion. I recently got a 10 pound KB, and my doctor just cleared me to do as much as I want, as long as I stop when I feel I need to, So I'm psyched!
I really don't care too much about how many calories just now. I need to build some strength and stamina--and maybe improve my balance.0 -

200 is low. I do an hour session and burn around 500 cals. Using 6kg for mat exercises and 12kg for swings, squats, etc.0
