A Not So Funny Funny Story

I'd be interested to see if anybody else has experienced this. I've managed over the past 4 months to drop 25 lbs to 170 (I am 6'2"). Unfortunately my clothes haven't kept up with my weight loss (I've lost about 3 inches of waistline) and most of my work clothes (mostly suits) now make me look like Floppy the Clown.

I met with a business colleague this afternoon who I see once a month or so. At the end of the meeting, he sidles up to me and quietly asks in a concerned voice: "Dude, you okay?", to which I chuckled because I knew he was referring to the weight loss. Poor guy thought I was sick. Now, just to be clear, my weight loss has been accomplished in combination with weight training so I am probably as strong as I've ever been but far from bulky - it's just the way I am built. But I have lost a lot of body fat, no doubt about it. I feel great, fitness is good and I look fine in the few pieces of clothing that actually fit.

Anyway, I've been holding off getting my suits taken in until I knew that I had stabilized my weight/phsyique (actually hopinig to bulk up more but keep the weight about the same) but it is clearly time to do just that! A Not So Funny Funny Story (because of course there are people who lose weight through illness). Thanks for listening.

I would have played with him and said, "I'm fine man. Excuse me though, I need to go purge." But I have a sick sense of humor.

Good job though. I'm also working on weight loss and muscle building at the same time as well. I have 60 pounds to go though :)

I can surely understand that from two perspectives. I used to weigh 330 lbs and I'm only 5'4" tall. I can remember trying to turn my grandmother over in bed in the hospital and the nurse asking me when I was due. Brother!!! Then I had gastric bypass (18 years ago) and no one knew who I was. Not even my family. So yes, it is odd when we see how others perceive us. It isn't always right is it?

Nice! I totally see your point- not so funny but super funny! :)

I have been holding off on buying new clothes so my slacks are falling off my *kitten* for the past week. Trying to hold out on buying more clothes but I don't think I can much longer!

    #gettinskinnyproblems. :)
