Blood Pressure Question

In November my blood pressure was 134/70 - which was high
I was at the doctor yesterday, after shedding 55 pounds, and my blood pressure was 110/78 - which is normal.
That should be good news, right? But the thing I have never understood is the Diastolic bottom number. Why has that gone up and what does that indicate?

diastolic is the artery pressure at a resting state, not during the hearts contraction. that number is not different enough to call it significant though, i would not be worried. we get concerned when it creeps up over 100 or so. 78 is perfectly fine. larger deviations would raise some concern, like if you used to be in the 50's.0
