Hi everyone,
I joined myfitnesspal this past week to provide myself with some extra motivation to reach my weight-loss goals. I've been counting calories in a paper journal for the past few years (I've lost 30+ lbs so far, but have recently hit a plateau and need to get back on track!), but my friend recommended this site to me and thus far, I'm really happy with the site! The food database, by far, is the best feature! The first item I entered into the food log, were Kashi Go Lean Waffles. I couldn't believe that all of the nutritional stats were automatically generated (protein, carbs, etc) for something as specific as a brand-name item. This definitely beats a paper journal!
I workout 3-6 times per week and am currently training for a 10-k. My fitness goals are to be able to push-ups and pull-ups! Right now, I need to drop quite a bit of weight to do that. My goal is 50 lbs, but I'll be happy to reach 30 :-)
I'm a really open person with eclectic interests. Feel free to message me about anything, even if it's non-fitness/nutrition related.
Take care,
Trisha

Welcome Trisha!
The database of name brand food is actually contibuted by our members. In the food diary next to the search button, there is a 'Enter a Food Not Listed' link. There you can enter all the nutritional info. Whenever I eat something that is a pre-prepared food, I will take it and list it on the database. (I can say that I've listed a lot of the Trader Joe's foods). It makes it soooo much easier later with the diary.
I know that you'll LOVE this site. Everyone is very helpful & motivating. It really has helped me since I joined last month.
Good luck to you!

Just wanted to say Welcome from another Trish!0

Hi Linda,
I just tried the 'enter a food not listed' tab and realized that individuals can add to the database. This is fantastic :-) I'll definitely do what I can to contribute to the database! Thanks for the warm welcome :-)
