I love string cheese and shreaded cheese, but my sodium intake is high. I need to find cheese lower in sodium. Any suggestions???

Cheese is salty by nature just by the way it is made. One cheese snack a day shouldn't be that much sodium, so I would look to what else in your diet is pushing your sodium so high (your diary isn't public, so I have no specific suggestions). Is it prepared/boxed foods, deli meats or other salty snacks contributing to your high sodium?

Funny you should post this question. I've been looking for the same thing and I just found some today that might work. It's "Kraft Deli Fresh - Natural Swiss Cheese, Extra Thin Swiss Slices" . It's not that much thinner than a regular slice of cheese and it has only 60 calories and 25 mg of sodium, which is crazy low sodium for cheese. And it tastes good too. I would prefer cheddar but the lowest sodium cheddar I found was around 180 mg. I figure with that much of a difference I can live with swiss and then occasionally I'll splurge and have cheddar.

Swiss cheeses in general have less sodium I have found.

swiss in general, the feta/goat/blue cheeses are generally higher

but i can almost always fit in an ounce or two of cheese and still be under sodium, so you might want to look at the rest of your diet

Boars Head has two low sodium swiss cheeses.
One is low sodium lacy swiss and another is low sodium and lower fat.

Boar's Head makes Low Sodium Lacey Swiss and Low Sodium Provolone - both are good and
can be found in most deli counters. Boar's Head also makes No Salt Added Turkey - which is
bland but can be easily doctored with some mustard, honey mustard, salsa, or hummus.

Agreed, swiss cheese or give provolone a try, that is the lowest I've found that I like but not as low as swiss.

Swiss is pretty low. Feta is high... but sooooo worth it!
