I need some advice please. I am fairly new and inexperienced with excercises, and how to use all the equipment in a gym. I most definetely need advise and guidance in how to train and what equipment to use so I can excercise effectively and to get the most benefit from it. If I don't do I will most probably end up using only the tread mill, cycles and the swimming pool! So I consider using the guidance and expertise from a personal trainer at the gym I joined. Their services are however not cheap and I need to decide how often I must use her services. The trainer recommends her services at least 2 x per week, but ideally 3 x. She feels that if we meet only 1 x week, it will be like starting all over every time we meet. Will it be worth my while using her only once a week, get her to teach me how to train and then train on my own, or should we meet more often. Your thoughts and guidance based on your experience will be appreciated.

Tell her you're hiring her to teach you how to use the equipment and to set you up with a program as that's all your budget allows for.

Having said that, there should be staff at your gym that can teach you how to use the machines as well.

Yes. Keep in mind, personal trainers at a gym are under pressure from the gym to get you to use their services. Just be honest.....your budget only allows for once a week. I think you can get what you need out of it. I would be specific though. Go in each week with specific goals and questions to make the most of your time.
