Last night I had a bowl of air popped popcorn and poured a bit of real butter on it. Logged it later...
404 calories!!!!!! :noway:
Needless to say I'm wondering if there is any butter flavored seasonings anyone can recommend? Or other ideas for low calorie toppings?
Thanks.

Have you tried Kernel Season's?
Here's a link to their nutritional info:

The "I can't believe it's not butter" spray is really good!
Someone suggested cinnamon, so I tried that too, but, didn't care for it that much.0 -
I made some smart balance light butter flavor micro popcorn for my 6 year old step-son (he actually LOVES it!), I asked him if he wanted salt, and he said, nope just butter... I said.. ok. and he says, actually, you know that butter that we use for corn on the cob? (spray butter)... yea, I'll take that  it was hilarious, and actually very good tasting.
I just read a post that someone used that and sprinkled a little splenda and cinn. on it... that sounds good, if you like the sweet stuff :glasses:0 -
I like the Jolly Time Buttery Seasoning, it has no calories but a lot of sodium so use sparingly. I also like the pump sprays. You can find any of them at the local grocery store.
Good Luck!0 -
I like spicy- granulated garlic or white pepper are both good!0

I love the air popped popcorn as well. I love to use a little olive oil pam on mine, just enough to stick the popcorn seasoning to. I really enjoy white cheddar, but my kids love dill pickle seasoning.0

Yes, the spray butters are good with splenda sprinkled on which makes it like kettle corn.0

Where do you get dill pickle seasoning? I've never seen it before Sounds yummy though..
Not gonna lie... I've never tried air popped popcorn. I'm assuming you have to use a special device?:blushing:0 -
I bought a microwave air popper bowl at Target......used to have the old machine but gave it away0

I am a Canadian and we always seems to get different things then in the states (vise versa). It is very popular here.0

Ok. I will look online for it... or tj maxx, they seem to have everything  thanks!0

My sister in law lives in Canada and she sent me some of the dill pickle seasoning!

I like the white cheddar seasoning (you can buy it near the other popcorn at the store). My kids love it too! And I use my air popper.0 -
How much butter did you use? One tbl is about 100-102 cal. For a big bowl of popcorn I only use 2 tbl of butter. DH and I share it so that's only about 1 tbl each. The popcorn itself is only about 31 cal for air popped. I don't care for the flavor or texture of air popped so I still use oil and a whirly pop popper.
I love popcorn for a snack. Especially if we are watching a movie.
I'd rather have the real flavor of butter than the chemical taste of those sprays.... I just use less but still get lots of flavor.0 -
i like sugar free maple syrup on my popcorn. or some olive oil and garlic powder.
my favorite is the smart pop.0 -
I found some stuff in the store that my stepmom used to use when I was growing up. It's called Butter Buds. I found it next to the spices in the baking aisle. According to the directions, you're supposed to mix it with water and then you can use it in place of butter, like on potatoes and stuff. I however, just sprinkle a little over my popcorn and it adds buttery goodness for only about 5 calories. Or, I'll sometimes use spray butter, then sprinkle parmesan cheese over the top (Yummmmm).0

I logged about 1/4 cup.. it was a big bowl of popcorn (about 6 cups) and I had about 330 calories left to use, so I thought I could "afford" the butter. lol.
I seem to react to chemicals in microwave popcorns so I stick with the air popped (although I see they are getting to be almost ancient LMAO
I'm in Canada too, and have never seen the I Can't Believe It's Not Butter spray, but I have seen Becel sprays..I don't like the watery mushiness on the popcorn though..
I have some Kernels seasonings but they do seem to have a lot of sugar in 'em..although now I see I would have been better off than with the butter.
I'll have a look around for the butter buds or butter flavored toppings. I liked the idea about mixing up cajun seasonings too.
Thanks everyone! I am loving this site and these message boards. I have tried other sites and this one seems to be less "cliquey"..easier to use, and FREE-God Bless it!
