Best brand of bacon?

I bought some thick-cut bacon at the meat shop, and it was too fatty and didn't get crisp enough for my taste. What brand of bacon do you use?
Oh and turkey bacon is an abomination. I only want the legit stuff.

Hormel Black Label Low Sodium bacon. It's delicious. However, I just love bacon in general.0

I have been buying butterball turkey bacon but I am not crazy about it. it gets chewy, not crispy. i have heard that center cut bacon isn't as terrible as regular bacon but haven't bought any yet.0

Oscar Meyer thick cut! But it's on sale like every three months so we get Gwaltney hardwood bacon.0

Wrights thick cut steakhouse bacon!0

I get Oscar Meyer - pre-cook - just nuke and get really nice crispy bacon. You can take out just a few pieces and store the remaining.0

I posted on my profile one time about desiring a man wrapped in bacon. So I'm going to say THAT would be the best kind.0

bacon isnt branded.
bacon is bacon.
its thick slabs of pig cut into strips, ready to be fried in its own fatty juices.
anything other then that... isnt bacon.
I rarely buy bacon, but when I do, the local butcher is the best place to go... he cuts it as thick or thin as you like. (I like mine really thick)0 -
I found Hormel Uncured Bacon. No added nitrites. I put it in the oven for about 20 mintues (no pre-heat) maybe a little less and it's pretty good. I really like it. So does my man. It used to be Oscar Mayer Center Cut. But trying to cut out as many toxins as I can. I used to cook it really crispy but don't like it like that anymore.
If I had access to a butcher I would go there. Hoping to find some local pastured hog that I can get shipped to me.
You couldn't pay me to eat turkey bacon.0 -
My grandfather gets the best bacon from the butcher.... thats the best kind...so i guess... just bacon, I find the stuff you buy in the store very salty - i eat it because bacon is awesome but I prefer right from the butcher...0

I also buy the Butterball Turley Bacon. 25 calories per slice and it tastes great on my breakfast sandwiches. I will agree though... definitely chewy not crispy.0 -
I prefer Hormel Black Label regular sliced, cooks up real nice, lil pricey, but worth it......0

i get mine from costco - Kirkland brand, low sodium..crisps up great and tastes good. not too thin, but its not really "thick cut" either0

Why don't you put that question out to the pig population, pretty sure they would have some good suggestions for you.....maybe you and Paula Dean can schedule your angiograms at the same time.....two for one special!
Let me guess... vegetarian? :laugh:0 -
Burgers Bacon. Love the stuff, crispy and still melts in the mouth when you eat it. It comes in peppered, applewood smoked, plain, and I'm sure others but those are my favs. Also you can get the bacon bit stuff, the odd end cuts for a cheaper price then the normal bacon.0

Just make a list of all the meat you want ahead of time.. or atleast a rough idea... and dont forget how much freezer space you have. lol.0 -

Pigs are horrible about this.
no matter what you ask about the bacon, pork, or sausage, they eat it all as if its all equally the best.
Pigs love bacon.
I wish all pigs I eat would eat more bacon, for that double bacon goodness.0 -
Pretty much any bacon is good bacon. But I usually try the local supermarket house brand or go to an old school butcher. And the only way to cook it I have found is in the oven, on a cookie sheet with one of the wire cooling racks. It keeps the bacon up out of the excess grease and turns out just right. A little crunchy and a little chewy. Kinda that in between point.0
