Don't ya just hate it when you buy something thinking you have made a good choice only to sit down later and really read the label and learn its not as great as you thought. I bought some little things to help get me through the day ... I either want a cigarette or food in my pie hole. I purchased Jelly Belly SUGAR FREE jelly beans... Cant be too bad right? It is 1 carb PER BEAN! I didn't even know carbs were in jelly beans! Ok Ok... how about the SUGAR FREE Trident Gum..its Sugar Free, GREAT... Guess what, its 1 carb PER PIECE.. I need to pay more attention.
Just curious. If I don't swallow the gum does the carb still count? HA

Doesnt the carb come from sugar alcohol or something, so yeah, you just sort of absorb it.
The gum carb doesnt seem like an issue...1 carb per jelly belly...that can't be right.0 -
Just how much gum do you chew that you are worried about one carb per piece?0

It states: serving size 35 pieces. Total Carbohydrate 37g. Sugar Alcohol 24g. I don't really understand sugar alcohol or what that means.0

usually low fat, or low cal, or SF means higher in carbs..they gotta make it taste good somehow! I usually just stick with the regular stuff if im going to have a few candies etc...plus all the artificial stuff in SF treats give me a MAJOR stomach ache! yuck!!!0

Well, considering I am chewing it because i'm not smoking... that could be about 20 pieces a day HA! I haven't chewed any yet, I was just surprised that one little tiny piece of gum equaled a carb.0 -

Even with the carb the gum is much better than smoking. The oral fixation thing gets better with time.
Beware of maltitol that is often in sugar free candies. Too much and it wants to evacuate.0 -

Sugar alcohol san seriously mess with your belly and cause excess, um - "potty time" Beware of eating too much til you know how you'll react! (and 24 seems like quite a lot, I've had bad reactions from eating 6) :blushing:
Unless you're diabetic, my opinion is avoid sugar free candy at all costs - eat small amounts of the real stuff if you NEED it!0
