I've been on nutrisystem for 2 weeks now and I have to say, I think the plan rocks. They make it very easy and very clear regarding how you eat and when you eat. The program is structured well and solid. From what I hear, they changed a lot of their recipes. I'm on the vegetarian plan and I can tell you the food is GOOD! Some things, not so much but almost all of their entrees can be jazzed up with some free veggies, herbs and spices. I've lost 11 pounds in two weeks! Most of this is water weight of course and the loss will slow down to somewhere around 1-2 pounds a week on average. That's fine by me; I expect to drop 8-10 pounds on average per month and reach my goal by the holidays. I love it because there's no guesswork, it's convenient, yummy, lots of variety, you only have to count calories if you feel like it (I get REALLY bored counting calories) and I'm never hungry. The thing I don't like about it is that the food is very processed (although tasty) but they have a good maintenance and transition plan that will allow me to be independent of their food in the long run. I'm learning a lot about my body and eating correctly. Here's a sample day for me:
Breakfast:
- Chocolate chip scone
- Vanilla protein drink
Morning Snack:
- Nonfat Greek yogurt, strawberry flavor
Lunch:
- Fettuccine Alfredo mixed with a can of tuna
- mixed salad greens with low-cal dressing
Afternoon Snack:
- 1 banana
Dinner:
- Mushroom Risotto with sautéed onions, garlic, fresh chopped rosemary, bell peppers (whatever other veggies I fancy) and drizzled with a little black truffle oil
- garlic bread made from a sandwich thin
- 1 cup steamed broccoli
Dessert:
- Peppermint cookie patty (think York peppermint patty on top of a thin chocolate cookie with crispy bits thrown in covered in chocolate...my favorite dessert so far!)
As you can see, it's a lot of food and you're eating all the time! You can also get really creative with how you prepare your meals. You have to of course drink at least (8) 8-oz glasses of water and have at least 4 servings of veggies per day but non-starchy veggies (no peas, corn, beans, potatoes, etc...they count as a carb on NS) are unlimited so I really pile them on at night when I like to eat the most. It costs me around $230/per month with their current promotion. That includes all of your breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert for 28 days so it's actually saving me money because I don't eat out as much. I've had success on it so far and plan to keep going strong with it. I know people have mixed feelings about NS but this has been my experience so far and I highly recommend it! Oh yeah, if you do want to count calories on MFP, all of the NS foods are in the database!
