30% of your "total calories" are protein or fat. You should not go over 30% of fat. But protein can be over as long as calories and fat are still within range.

    Ditto.

    1 gram of protein = 4 calories
    1 gram carbs = 4 calories
    1 gram fat = 9 calories

When divided by total calories consumed gives you the percentage of each.
