H there

According to MFP my BMR is 1522, but the calorie goal MFP sets for me is 1410.
I am a tad confused as I have read that I should not eat below my BMR.

Which number should I be aiming for??

My weight loss has been very slow at 1410(like a hundred grams a week or not even a quarter of a pound). Will it speed up of I introduce more calories?

Maybe maybe not. How much do you have to lose?

I decided to set my calories per day at my final goal weight. I was eating 1200 for a weight loss, but according to MFP my BMR is 1383 (at my final goal of 140), I am 5'6" and 49 years old. I changed my calories to 1383 and find myslef eating under that every day. I still have 22 pound for my ultimate goal, but this is where I think I should be.

This kinda makes sense to me. I will try it for a bit to see if it works for me

I still have 22kg to lose (close to the 50lb mark I think)

It is my understanding that you should be eating above your BMR. Anything lower might result in burning off lean muscle. I'm still learning more about this myself, so its a process :)

I agree you should eat over your BMR. If you did nothing but lay in bed all day you'd burn 1522, obviously you are doing more than that so you need to fuel yourself accordingly. Your body is like a car, it needs fuel to run. I would suggest around1600calories per day. Give it at least a couple of weeks. Check your settings that your height is correct and your activity level is an accurate description depending on what you are doing most days.
Another option would be to set your lose weight goals to say loose 1/2lb per week as this will give you more calories
