Scale at Dr's Office

For the past several years I've dreamed of the day when I could step onto the scale in the Dr's office and not have them slide the bar all the way over to the right, look at me, then slide the bar all the way back to the left and move the "big bar" over by 50 lbs. I don't know why, but my goal has been to be able to step ono that scale- clothes. shoes and all- and not have the nurse move that "150 lb" bar.
Well.... I'm down to 143 these days (give or take). The other day I went to the Dr because I hurt my knee (thanks Jillian.. LOL) and proudly stepped onto that scale. I couldn't wait for the nurse to look right past that bigger bar. Well..... IT WAS A DIGITAL SCALE! While I still accomplished my goal of weighing in under 150 fully clothed (I weighed in at 145.8) it was a hollow victory without that bar!
Luckily, I have to go see a specialist for my knee... maybe he'll have a "normal" scale. LOL
Just goes to show that God has a sense of humor.

I think in this day and age EVERY doctor should have a digital scale. NOT only are they bouncing those bars around, they are standing off to the side and reading it - and you have to be directly in front to see where it actually is, and they bounce the things back and forth and don't even wait for it to level out and land on a weight before they take down the weight. NO WONDER we always weigh more at the doctor's office!0

SO funny! I had the same thing happen to me a few months ago. It definitely takes some of the fun out of it.
But hey - at least they were guessing you looked under 150 before. When I was right on the edge, I hated when they at least didn't TRY to get me under 150!0 -
In my experience, the dr's scale always weighs more... Maybe it is accurate but I like my scale better.... But if it shows my loss as the same pounds, I am still happy.....0

Congratulations and keep up the good work. :drinker:0

If it makes you feel any better I started losing weight and had an old rotary style scale. I just got a new digital and it was nINE pounds over my old one. So now I am 9 MORE pounds further away from my initial goal of getting under 200 AND it shows no weight loss on my ticker until I get back to my old scales weight.... grrr.... I just keep reminding myself they are just numbers and laughing about the fact that for years I was 9 pounds "lighter" than reality lol It stinks when reality catches up with you! lol0
