Hi
I am attending a "conference" in Las Vegas this June. I have a party at the Wet Republic and also one at the MGM Grand Garden.
What can I expect?
I would love any information about appropriate dress for these places and Las Vegas in general. (I've never been) I want to be stylish and comfy of course...but also have a bit of pizazz.
Please help....links to shopping websites would be appreciated too.
Thank you all!

Like most places on The Strip, the MGM is an enormous property. Be aware that you will have to walk for miles to get from one place to another. Comfortable shoes are absolutely essential.
Vegas in the Summer is rediculously hot, even at night. Keep that in mind as you plan your wardrobe.
Just in case you haven't heard of them, I'll mention one of my favorite Vegas activities: getting a Chinese foot massage. There are countless places that offer one hour massages for $39 (plus tip...god help you if you don't tip at least a 5 spot).
Although they are called 'foot' massages, they actually rub you down pretty much head to toe. The massage is done in a special massage chair and you don't even have to take off your clothes (just wear loose, comfortable clothes that you don't mind getting stretched a bit during the rub).
Most hotel spas charge 3 to 4 times as much for a massage, so these foot massage places are an incredible bargain. Check yelp, com for the names of the highest rated places.
Hope your "conference" goes well, and you have tons of fun in my favorite city!0 -
Expect it to be above 100 degrees in June. You will every level of dress in Vegas. The bigger hotels, people will go casual during the day, but dress up for the evenings. Every night is like new years eve at the clubs. Be stylish and fun.

I went in November. Sensible shoes for walking the strip is a must! I wore my HRM watch and actually came back from Vegas down a few pounds! LOL The casinos are very cold all the time so if you are dressing up and your attire requires it, bring a shawl or light jacket to carry with you. You'll have a blast! I had never been until two years ago and we've been twice now and plan to go back in November! The shows are amazing, the food is ok, if you're a people watcher, you'll be entertained the entire trip!0

Hi Judy!
Comfortable shoes is an oxymoron for me..LOL That is exactly the info I needed though. The food is ok? Will I be able to find healthy stuff?
How about the cost of things...I had sticker shock in LA last year! LOL
If anyone has ideas of comfortable stylish shoes...
PLEASE HELP!0 -
Comfortable well ventilated shoes are a must. It will be very hot and dusty outside. You can not catch a cab at the curb on the strip. The only way to get one is to go to the hotel main entrance. That means you will do a lot of walking. If you are out and about between gatherings or whatnot, have a pair of sneakers and a couple pair of sport socks in a bag you can change into.
Inside is fairly cool, not bad if you are up and moving around, but if you will be sitting or stationary for a long time bring a sweater or jacket. For a buisness gathering during the day I would suggest casual buisness clothes...a nice pair of capri or crop pants with a shirt/blouse and moderate heeled sandals or open toed pumps (good excuse for a pedi). For the evening I would suggest you take a few separates that can be dressed up or down depending on what you find the atmosphere of the gathering to be. It's Vegas, you can get away with a little or a lot of glitz and glitter and be just fine.
Don't forget the shades, sun block, aloe gel and eye drops. If you are going to be on your feet most of the time get some peppermint lotion for your feet and calves...they will thank you. As far as the cost of things....it depends on where you go. If you are into shopping there are some outlet stores just off the strip. If you go to the shops in the hotels (and there are fantastic ones) you will pay premium prices. Same thing with food...they can be pricey for the buffets and gourmet, but there are also 24/7 coffee shops, deli's and cafe's in most of the hotels that are not quite as expensive, but you have to look for them. 95% of them have some healthy options available.
Have fun!!0 -
