Skunked!!!

So this should make some of you giggle a little.
Yesterday morning about 530 am, I let my dogs out front to go potty as I do EVERY morning. Well, this was no ordinary morning!!! There was a skunk on the porch eating the cat food. Before I knew what was happening (mind you I am still half asleep, at friggin 530am) my older dog, Chelsea was barking at this skunk. She must have been blocking the skunk's escape route because that skunk got her square in the face!!! I was only about 5 feet away and he had a powerful spray!! So there I am at 530 am on my front porch, in my nightgown, no shoes holding the collar of this really stinky dog and not smelling so good myself.. My husband was still upstairs asleep, I had no shoes on and it's dark out. I didn't know what to do. I couldn't walk around back with no shoes because of the gravel and stickers. So I picked her up., walked through the house out to the back. I came back in through the laundry room, took off my nightgown and put on the only clean thing in the laundry room........my bathing suit top. So there I am at 530 in the morning running around the house in my bathing suit top and panties!!! I still had to make hubby's breakfast/lunch for the day. He wakes up and asks why it smells like a skunk in the house!!! Duh!! I had to call my boss and explain to her why I wouldn't be in to work. She laughed so hard and said NO ONE had ever used that reason before!!! The good news is I got lots of exercise from bleaching the porch and rearranging the patio furniture and cleaning the house!!!

fortunately I have never smelled a skunk before but i'm assuming it must be pretty bad. Hope the rest of your day went better!

Ironically, keep moth balls under your porch. Skunks don't like the smell & won't den there. :flowerforyou:

Thanks, but they can't get under our porch. I don't know where they are coming from, I just know they like to eat the cat food so I have put it up a little higher. I just don't know what I am going to do with the little kitties get big enough to eat solid food but still don't know how to jump. That was the 2nd skunk I caught on the porch but the first one ran away before the dogs noticed it.

Hill Country living at it's best............skunk, deer, cayotes, scorpions, etc.................
