Maybe you can just try eating your daily calorie goal. You can still lose even w/o exercise but just your eating habits. Maybe at night and/or in am just do basic mild stretches. Good luck with your surgery!:flowerforyou:

What kind of surgery is this? They specified only aerobic? Strength training isn't aerobic exercise if you lift heavy, but I wouldn't think a doctor would want you doing that before surgery either, but you could ask.

Yoga and light walking come to mind... but don't feel bad about resting after surgery. It's okay to give your body a little time to recover.

Get your rest, eat your calorie goal and then when you are all healed up I bet your weight loss will WHOOSH! from the "change" of adding aerobics back.

    Take care of you!

Yup. People who have surgery and are told this very same thing worry about not getting the exercise in instead of worrying about healing their body. My husband has lower back surgery 6 years ago and was told no physical activity for 3 months!! Not even sex. Seriously. He lasted about 3 WEEKS and resumed playing sports. His back is majorly frigged up now and he will likely need future surgery. Don't rush it. Light walking to keep yourself sane but focus on healing your body first.

Your body will be under enough stress already, just eat your daily goal, knowing it has the deficit for weight loss in there already.

I had a hysterectomy last Dec 12th. My doctor allowed me to walk. After two weeks I was up to 2 miles. Do you think the doctor will let you walk?

In that case, you should DEFINITELY get your rest. Your body is fighting hard enough as it is. I hope both surgery and recovery go well.

Your priority right now is to heal properly. When your doctor gives you the okay, that is when you can slowly work activity back into your life. Concentrate on getting well.

God be with you through it all.

Concentrate on getting well and letting your body heal itself, is my advice. You can get back into the exercise afterwards, this is more important. Just stick to a healthy diet, and try not to fret too much.

I misread the topic title. I thought they meant leading up to surgery, not after it. I would be weary of lifting with fresh stitches in. It might be doable. I would just make sure to ask the doctor.

Be sure you clear this with your surgeon first. Listen to your body, and don't overdo it. I was shocked at how tired I was the first week after a relatively minor surgery on my foot. All I did was sleep--I actually lost about 10 pounds over about 6 weeks because I had no appetite. I couldn't bear weight on my foot, and I couldn't cook for myself/get the meal to the table, so I relied on my husband to help me set up meals before he left for work. I rarely ate everything he set up for me, because all I was doing was laying around. I just wasn't hungry.
