Someone tweeted a link today to some old posters from the WWII military, warning soldiers of the dangers of contracting venereal disease.

They are all pretty fun--here's the whole set: http://www.mentalfloss.com/blogs/archives/120278

Two I especially liked:

This one cracks me up because it has a completely different meaning now than when it was first published.

Here is the other:

If I was a woman, this would be my screen name & avatar. (Heck, I might even become a woman just so I can use it).

my husband is a huge ww2 buff, he knows a lot about everything ww2. he's writing a book about a ww2 flying ace in the pacific, who, as part of his duty, is the vd control officer. we did a lot of research and found it almost disturbing. the number of out of wed lock babies, the number of women spreading disease.

i do think its humorous that our grandparents, the stoic greatest generation, were horny little teenagers, who f'd everything that moved. the victory girls were out of control.. girls as young as 15 were moving from base to base giving sexual solace to the all the armed forces. a lot of those girls would get arrested for basically being unpaid prostitutes.

its sad that the girls weren't taught to be more careful, that is one of the great things about now, sex isnt a taboo subject. we can talk to our daughters and sons and tell them to wear a condom, get tested, ect..i'm just glad they have cures for most of this stuff.
