eating the right exercise calories (food choice)

Just want to get some thoughts about the right (best) way to consume your exercise calories when you have deficiets in certains areas (say protein or fats) for example...

    I drank chocolate milk and ate 10 almonds after exercising yesterday. Not sure if that would be the best way, could have left out the chocolate I suppose. Anyhow, protein and healthy fat, there ya go. :)

    oh yeah, some carbs in that as well, which is also good post workout
