Kind of confused whether it will help you lose weight or not. Also if you don't eat them back shouldn't your body use the stored fat to keep your body going?

Well - actually - for me, I don't lose weight if I eat them back. Then you aill have people on here say they lost 200 lbs doing that, so..... You have to see what works for you. If you eat them back and you aren't losing, then - don't!

Most people on MFP (including me) would say yes, that you should eat back most of them, if not all. This is a question that comes up a lot. You may find it helpful to read the articles for new users that you can find here:

Really depends on the person. I don't eat back mine as a standard, but allow myself to eat back up to half if I have a craving or just want to. I've lost 10kg/22lb in 8 weeks.

However if you're not very overweight (less than 10kg) it's worth thinking about if you see your losses going down.

Really, it's different for everybody. Some peoples bodies can function well on the energy from stored fat, many can't.
  • Actually it's the opposite. If your calorie intake in much less then required your body will go into preservation mode and hoard fat stores, slowing the weight loss process.

If you work out, your body needs calories to energize your workout and to recover. The idea to weight loss is to lower your fat mass while maintaining/increasing your muscle mass.

Working out will help you define your body, give it shape. It will also be adding lean muscle mass which will allow your body to burn calories at an accelerated pace.

Yes, you should eat most or all of them back. Your body needs the energy from the food including your organs, heart and brain. This question gets asked daily so do a search and you will see a ton of replies.
