Just wanted to introduce myself. I have been using myfitnesspal for about two weeks and found great encouragment from all of your posts.

This is my second attempt to lose weight this year. I tried in February to lose weight by watching my calories under 1200 a day and worked out a lot. Took vitamins and all that good stuff. I didn't lose one pound. I am so disappointed and sad that I gave up. I found The Eat Clean Diet book and got exicted to give it a try again. I have been following it exactly and tracking everything here. The first week I dropped 7 pounds but the second week I gained 2. I am a bit sad but still pushing forward.

I don't think I eat enough calories. I am confused about eating the extra calories that you burn. I never do that. Why would we want to eat the calories that we burn? Can someone please explain this to me?

thanks for listening.

Heather

Hi! Welcoem to MFP!! I def. think you need to eat more. The guide here at MFP is a fairly good estimate for caloric intake. Also, if you set your goals to refelct a weight loss, the food diary will show howmuch you can eat while still creating a deficit. It is advisable to eat back at least some of your calories burned b/c your body will not be able to function properly whtout enough fuel (food), and that will actually slow down the fat burning process. I hope you have a chace to peek around the boards; there are many more posts explaining this is better detail that I could, hehe! Welcome again!!
