Is my weight loss goal realistic?

I don't have as much to lose as other MFPers, but I am not in tip top shape. I want to set a goal to reach my GW by Memorial Day and then I'll buy myself a nice bathing suit (not like an Old Navy or Target, but like Victoria's Secret or something that really makes me feel good!). Anyways, I don't know if my GW is realistic or not.

SW: 142 ish (I've been between 140-150 for the last 5 years or so)
CW: 138
GW: 132

That being said, I'm 5'9.5" and fairly active (work in a school, so I barely sit down). My biggest drop was over the past 3 weeks, I lost 3lbs b/c I started eating much cleaner and started biking to and from work/daily errands every day. I am now getting back into the gym.

I also know I will (and want to) gain muscle. Any idea if I will ever get down to my GW? Or should I set my goal to be based on BF%??

Any advice is appreciated!

I always preferred the number 133, personally, lol.
But I see no problem with aiming for that weight.
I am the same height as you myself and tend to be anything from 123 to 140Ibs.
Truth told, I was probably my healthiest at 140, being a medium build, and you are not overweight at your current weight at all.
Be a weight you can sustain without totally depriving yourself and making yourself miserable.

I wouldn't set it based on a weight. You could be skinny and completely lacking in muscles and reach 130, or beautifully toned and who knows how much you'd weigh? Definitely go for the look, not an arbitrary # on the scale.
  • End of May, so 2 months away. Plenty of time.
  • Frosty- How do I set a goal then? BF%?? I wish MFP had other goals than just weight!

Ya, what Frosty said. Your weight is already very reasonable for your height. Now, I think it would be time to focus on body composition and BF% instead of just a number on the scale.
