Calf Pain?

I've been working out the past few months, and have recently felt pain in my calf on my left leg. It hurt so bad in the beginning that I wanted to limp. It doesn't hurt to touch my calf; the ache is deeper than that. My left leg is slighly shorter than my right (maybe a half inch to an inch), so maybe that's the issue? It feels good when I push down with my thumbs towards my ankle, but that doesn't always work.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this? It aches when I do squats, and it really aches when I crouch (for example, put something on the bottom shelf in the fridge).
Please help!
Thanks!!
