lol. I see lots of good info coming from the "New Rules..." book, but I'd like to know if anyone has the time to help me...

How should I start? My husband pulled out and cleaned off his weight bench for me. What should I do, how much of it should I do, and for how long should I do it? I feel extremely weak already  I will say.. when I was a teen, my parents got me a gym membership for my birthday... the trainer that they gave me the first few times showed me all about how to make my arms all sorts of big, and all I got from that was stretch marks :grumble: Definitely not looking for that.

Any advice would be appreciated... thanks!

I like a program called Visual Impact for Women. visualimpactforwomen.com

There's a certain amount of education involved in strength training. You might want to consider seeing a trainer again.

I haven't been to this site, Stumptuous, for years, but it has workouts for women. http://www.stumptuous.com/

Just start with some dumbbells or barbells at a weight you can manage for about 10 to 12 reps. Do around 3 sets with 10-12 rep and just work on progressing on something everytime your in the gym like the weight or amount of reps. Bodybuilding.com has a lot of forums that you could get better help from and there are also a lot of different training programs on there that are very useful and offer the explanations you need for each exercise with videos. I know of a lot of women who loved the results they got from Jamie Eason's Live fit program which can be found on bodybuilding. I take ideas from some of her workouts sometimes along with other programs on there.
and if your working from home, there are still plenty of ideas on there. :)
