Hi, everyone. My name is Geron. I've been at this for a few weeks now, with some positive results. I was inspired when I saw my dad for the first time in almost three months (even though we live 15 miles from each other). He and his wife were almost a month into the program and they looked awesome. I asked him what he was doing to lose weight and he led me here to MFP. Thanks dad!

I found myself looking in the mirror the next day, wondering how in the world I let myself eat my way into 240 pounds of flub when the answer was as simple as what this site presents. So I set off on the same journey that all of you are taking. I guess it's as much about losing weight as it is about learning how to eat with restraint and how different foods have different impacts on my increasingly less-young-and-indestructible body.

Does anyone else feel that way? That the lessons we teach ourselves and each other at MFP extend beyond simply being in better shape? In just a few weeks, I feel like a stronger person for taking control of my own eating habits. It's a long road and I've had some tough days, but I'm thankful for this community and this site for presenting knowledge in a way that allowed me to finally begin to take back the reigns on my convenience-oriented eating habits.
